Wonderful! &mdash 01/29/07 - 12:02:26 AM
That is my problem and something I don't know how to do. You are able to use GB and create professional sounds. The melody is calming and relaxing, and gives me an incentive to keep trying. I really enjoyed it! [ Reply to This ]

A musician with your talent will never have to worry about programming skills. How many of us would give a lot to be able to play piano like you! [ Reply to This ]
This is an old song? &mdash 01/29/07 - 12:05:12 AM
It may be old, but it's just more evidence of your great talent. Your arrangements are completely engaging and utterly professional, and your composing is likewise very high-level. I enjoy your music very much.
You keep making 'em, I'll keep downloading 'em. Do we have a deal? [ Reply to This ]

I guess it was late 2004 when I finally got my hands on GB. Regarding your generous comment, let me just say that I already downloaded most of your tracks and you are on my top list, and there is a lot of music on my ipod! Thanks again, Patrick, your encouragement is priceless! [ Reply to This ]

your signature &mdash 01/29/07 - 09:52:07 AM
This has your signature style. I'm not sure how to catagorize it or articulate that, other than to say "It sounds like you!". Fantastic what you can pull off with the original GB software instruments. My first GB song uses the classical guitar; something about it I guess. I remember thinking, "wow, this ain't half bad!"
I also hear certain chord progressions from Fathomless. Is that a coincidence? I love what you do with percussion. It's integrated so well, it never sounds like an afterthought. Bravo for this one. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks a lot... &mdash 01/29/07 - 05:33:30 PM
Really appreciate your comments! I was surprised when you mentioned "Fathomless", but I checked and some chord progressions are very similar. Good catch! It's an interesting thing with the "signature" style, and it's one of the reasons why I'll always check your account for new posts:) [ Reply to This ]
Calm drama &mdash 01/29/07 - 01:30:42 PM
This is lovely work - a really chilled feel to it, but the string melody adds a sense of drama that helps pull you along into the track. Frankly, the production on this is stunning - creating this in garageband is really impressive (I had to move up to Logic to create something that sounded nearly as polished as this).
Great structure with lovely little changes .... you certainly don't need to apologise for posting this!

Curious about Logic ? &mdash 01/30/07 - 01:24:59 PM
I have just purchased Logic Pro 7, I already have Logic Express7.1.1 and Pro Tools le 6.9.2 which I really haven't used that much yet.
I had been doing my research on Logic Pro and it is I think really worth all the fantastic extras, but have not received my disk as of yet, it may arrive today ? Wooooooow
But it is more complex and a bigger learning curve I have heard from friends that had spent $1000 on personal tutoring. [ Reply to This ]
Wow! &mdash 01/30/07 - 01:59:18 PM
And for Garageband, to this day, I didn't have to read the help manual even. I'm starting to feel the limitations though (tempo changes, etc...). Thanks a lot for the info and let me know what you think about the Logic Pro version! [ Reply to This ]

I have actually been looking for new songs from you lately so this was a great treat! One of my "heroes" of this site for sure! Great music, so well produced. I hope to learn som of the subtleties of GB from my brother soon (he is a trained, if not active, electro acoustic musician. I believe there is a rather famous studio for that stuff in Stockholm!) This is a sure favorite and downloaded like the rest of your songs. I'll have it repeat while playing a bit of Civilization... Huge THANKS! [ Reply to This ]

I always love your ears and mixes and it amazes me that you only use GB !
Very tasteful concepts and performances, do you think Sri and spirituality helps that much?
I feel my soul is richer from my Transcendental meditation, never mind the awareness it brings into life in general, not just musical or creativity.
Narada Micheal Walden has always been one of my favorite drummers and artists and he does attribute quite a bit to Sri N, so I may need to look into him a little deeper and do some research.
Please contact me, if you please, for I may have some good tv soundtrack work coming up soon and we may be able to acquire some material benefit from our creativity.
Your creations are always a pleasure to experience.

Brilliantly balanced piece of music this is. Everything fits like a glove, feels like there would be no other way to place every note and instrument. Yet though, this is not predicable or boring in any way. Just the opposite: an extremely enjoyable track of which I put the time slider to the beginning again twice. A pro composition.

it's AMAZING... &mdash 02/02/07 - 06:10:45 PM
...that you have created this very polished, rich and deep-sounding mix in the original GB!
This piece demonstrates vividly that it's not necessarily the tools themselves, but how one USES them.
I have always been impressed with your choice of sounds and how you combine them. You have a very intuitive, imaginative musical ear, and you communicate this "language" very clearly and effectively to the listener.
This is why so many people identify strongly with your music, and this truly is all that ANY of us music-creators can really hope for! (Just look at all those downloads, which proves my point. That's great.)
Thanks for sharing this early gem. It certainly doesn't matter when it was created -- it is excellent by any standard -- but it *IS* indeed amazing that you did it on the first version of GB. [ Reply to This ]

transitions &mdash 02/03/07 - 11:55:36 PM
The transitions in movements driven by the drums passages and changes are what make this song cool for me. There is a little too much stereo panning in the guitar IMHO. I found it a little distracting. But the mood is all there. fanned and downloaded.... [ Reply to This ]
Convincing &mdash 02/04/07 - 02:26:40 PM
This is a great sounding piece, and until I read your description it didn't occur to me that the guitar was not real. Yes, it is pretty amazing what you can do with software these days.
Nice playing and programming/selection of sounds.
Just one question. Why does that electronic piano start with such a plop? Take the very first chord. Also that piano that comes in at about 1/3. Those two chords (they have a bass drum under them?), their attack is strange. Are you going overboard with a compressor?
[ Reply to This ]
Not about the software, apparently &mdash 02/07/07 - 12:21:57 PM
I see old software isn't an obstacle for you. It's really amazing you've created such a professional sound with the original GB. I mean, I can't get my orchestral pieces to sound nearly this nice in Logic Pro... makes you wonder where that money went...
Anyway - this, like - well - all of your other tracks, is really good. I just love the cinematic feel to it all. Yet, it works perfectly on its own.
