Solid good &mdash 01/29/07 - 11:10:00 AM
Since I had a chance to listen to the piece while in progress - I can only say that it's come together very nicely, all solos are great, dynamics are evolving smoothly, excellent collab on all accounts; Ed - great second melody, just great (I was kinda hoping for the out-of-this-world EWI solo from you as a tribute to one of the great EWI players :), but the sax works is just fine) Jam on! Heh... &mdash 01/29/07 - 11:29:20 AM
Thanks, man. I'm grinning ear-to-ear. I really should have done the solo on tenor, but I'm no Brecker, and alto is just my primary.
I actually really wanted to do an EWI solo, but it's out of commission right now, and I'll probably need to get a new one. :(

Well... &mdash 01/29/07 - 01:51:28 PM
...I am drooling over the new EWI4000s - sounds like a good choice...

Great &mdash 01/29/07 - 11:12:28 AM
Simply Beautiful. I love jazz guitar, horns are brilliant, Karma great as usual. Everyone sounds excellent. Thanks. [ Reply to This ]
Allright! &mdash 01/29/07 - 11:22:07 AM
I really enjoyed all of this; it was extremely pleasing to my ear and very, very well played by everyone! All 10s, especially for a collab jam. [ Reply to This ]
A great tribute mix.... &mdash 01/29/07 - 12:24:19 PM
If I had one quibble it would be that towards the beginning, there are at least two lengthy gaps, where the continuity is spoiled. (IMO).
The sections all work together and the playing is impeccable with everyone seeming tight (or in sync) in the mixes.
A great idea....a great tribute.

Wow &mdash 01/29/07 - 02:16:06 PM
Wow, what an amazing track! I downloaded it, something I virtually never do (running out of disk space), and REALLY enjoyed the tune, the way everyone's solo's work together, and the sound. I wanted the strange little coda to go on and on... (the last bit with the bass and piano)... that was very cool.
Really impressive.

again &mdash 01/29/07 - 02:31:10 PM
Another stunning piece involving mcboy. I noticed the fan email at work. But when I got home and headed to look up mcboys place here, I went straight for the 'no. One' rating pick, knowing it would lead me to his place:)
What is a bonus treat is to know that there are several great mj'ers involved here. And you sound like you have toured together on jazz scenes for ages.
Great hook-lines and solos. You all sound so professional without exception.
Great round up with the tempo/style change near the end. Cool bass treatment mcboy! [ Reply to This ]
So nice &mdash 01/29/07 - 04:49:40 PM
Right off the bat I'm hooked by that sax playing... fantastic, edhara. And of course, the awesome piano playing, the great guitar and bass playing, the spot on amazing jazz drums... this all rolls together into a beautiful jam. Excellent work, everyone. [ Reply to This ]
host with the most &mdash 01/29/07 - 05:20:17 PM
Thx to McBoy for this. Ricky S. phenomenal. This should find its way into the Mj drumoff :-)

Mj certainly has some talent! &mdash 01/29/07 - 05:36:10 PM
What a fantastic collab! Some of my "old" favourite players (and a few "new favourites" I previously knew little about), beautifully recorded and all very much "on song". This would hold its head high in all sorts of very serious company!
Peace,

I've been waiting all day... &mdash 01/29/07 - 09:10:03 PM
...to get a chance to hear this...
This is a real "dream team" venture, and what's nice is that it doesn't end up being an empty exercise in star power...
Just getting to hear McBoy and Tadashi together, for starters, is a treat for me...
But heck, there is nothing wasted here... all of the feels contributing to the total feel are just right...

MacJams at its best! &mdash 01/30/07 - 02:24:03 PM
I don't even know where to begin complimenting everyone who took part in this project. This must be the best MJ jazz fusion collaboration ever! I'm glad you described the process and who exactly did what. The variety and execution of muscial ideas is phenomenal. Kudos to the host and all musicians for this accomplishment! Truly impressive on so many levels. The last part is such a soulful and appropriate way to end the song.
A wonderful tribute to Michael Brecker and all who love (his) music. [ Reply to This ]
Now THAT is what I call HIT the soul &mdash 01/30/07 - 04:16:27 PM

What a tremendous opportunity I was given... &mdash 01/31/07 - 12:04:03 AM
I would like to add my thanks to Mcboy for inviting me to be part of this tribute to a master who left us too early.
It is a rare privilege to be able to make music with such great players, and I am very grateful. Furthermore, the fact that the musicians are in no geographic proximity to one another at all fills me with awe. I believe it speaks very highly of this site that it happened here.
Mcboy, you were the *perfect* host, and I was very honored to have been asked by you to participate. Many thanks to you and to Ed, John, Tadashi, and Ricky. Gentlemen, I am humbled in your company.

I'm still blown away .... &mdash 02/03/07 - 12:44:30 PM
... by the fact that a number of people who have never met and live thousands of miles away from each other can put together their parts in separate locations and have something this finely tuned and tight come out of the process ..... truly amazing - but I suspect that is the difference between the "pros" and the "amateurs". I never got the opportunity ... &mdash 02/03/07 - 03:32:05 PM
.. to thank everyone. Futzpucker, Karmatoburn, Togawa-san, ricky s.. you all have outstanding musicianship qualities that I admire greatly. And a very special thanks to McBoy for putting together and inviting me to be in this unique collaboration - my respect for you knows no bounds. I am honored to be in this company. Thank you for everything! [ Reply to This ]
Solid 10s From Me &mdash 02/03/07 - 06:14:10 PM

Oh Michael's smiling &mdash 02/05/07 - 01:15:14 AM
He was a great great player and I didn't know he passed. No more Becker Brothers I guess. So sad.
This tribute and collab is the most outragious thing i have herd in a long time, Macjams or not. The playing here is so fine. I want to screem to all my friends that if they don't log on to MJ they arnt hip anymore. With stuff like this comming from fellow macjammers it is evident where music is headed in the future. Collaberations of great artist and fine fine music, and for free to boot.
I'm gonna have to look into more of your tunes. Thank you for the jazz, man!
Tim
