Description:
Wrote about 10 years ago and recently recorded again using Logic. Hard driving Rock riff, with dashes of Funk and Soul thrown in for flavor

This sound and feel harks back to a time I remember all too well and am thankful to have had the privilege to live thru. yes...this is a bolt of nostalgia from out of the blue. I like everything about this Dan. Very PRO! You playing all this stuff or are you with a band?

Be well!

Thanks for listening....... &mdash 01/31/07 - 02:01:51 AM
I usually play all the instruments...well 2 anyway, drums and keyboard. I use the keyboard to play everything except the drums. lol Occasionally I will have my bandmate Tim add some guitar.

Excellent &mdash 02/04/07 - 12:02:32 AM
Kind of has a Tower of Power meets Pat Travers ( Crash & Burn) vibe to it, Excellent singing and instrumentation all around. Too short for my liking only because I wanted hear more. You write music in this genre so well. I aspire to write like this but admittedly.... and when I listen to your music the point is further driven home... that I am so far in left field. Glad people like you are around to keep it alive.
Really enjoyed your drumming and the sound of your kit, snare in particular.... Again excellent!!!

Thanks Norman... &mdash 02/04/07 - 11:15:22 PM
I appreciate and respect your feedback. There certainly isn't anything wrong with being were you are musically. Most of the songs you have shared here at MacJams are brilliant and many of us aspire to be in the same league. When a song is based around vocals, the formula generally is verse,chorus,bridge...in no set order. I always try to find a good hook. My instrumentals aren't very good. I'm still working on a good vehicle for us to collaborate on.

Catchy! &mdash 02/05/07 - 01:40:09 AM
Nice drums and bass. Are these the BFD drums or an acoustic set? I think the guitar and vocal levels could be brought up a bit. Thanks for sharing.

The drums are drum samples from Wizoo.com and are being played in Logics EXS24 using a midi drum set. If you're using a sample player Wizoo has some great sounds for cheap.

Sorry, Wizoo.com, not Wazoo.com (a hosting company).

Great vocals &mdash 03/18/07 - 10:06:12 AM
Nice tune, great vocals. I also liked the guitar solo. The drums sound MIDI, especially the repeating snare hits, which disappointed me, since your bio says you play drums in real life; I was hoping for a real set. Some of the faster runs on horns are too MIDI too, even tho you've done a great job utilizing them. But it makes the track sound like a draft demo in my ears. The slap bass is mixed too loud in my ears. Man, I hope you can record this stuff with a real band; really nice stuff.

Feel the funk &mdash 04/06/07 - 12:12:48 PM
Tight, snappy, groovin' tune! I like the horn punches, and jazz funky feel to the tune, and nice singing too. Cool swinging song, Dan.
