Description:
This is a quirky tin pan alley thing I put together in late November for a cabaret revue that I was in... but I didn't end up performing the song. I might peform it in April. Lol. I would like to put bass to this, but I feel like it should be a stand-up bass. I just messed around with the jazz drums in macjams and chopped them up. It could use a better arrangement.

Cool... &mdash 01/31/07 - 10:46:52 PM
Sounding like cabaret via Regina Spektor, which is pretty cool. Nice cutting up of jazz drums, they totally work. (by "jazz drums in macjams", did you mean jazz drums in Garageband?). You certainly know how to play those 88s! [ Reply to This ]

Really nicely done... I dig that piano playing a lot, and your cabaret voice is great, very theatrical. I could practically see you on stage. [ Reply to This ]
You truly .... &mdash 02/01/07 - 12:42:57 PM
... are multi-talented .... able to "swing" in different genres ... not able to perform it ???? did they at least pay you for the song ??? Way to hit and hold that high note ... if I tried that - my head would explode ! You are still one of my favourite female artists at Macjams ! [ Reply to This ]
Cabaret &mdash 02/02/07 - 09:08:02 AM
This is a great demo. Like a cabaret performance theatrically performed. The drumming, in my ears, isn't needed, and at times seemed to disagree, rhythmically, with your playing. I prefer the image of a single performer at the piano. Unless you use bass, then the drums would work better. (I hope you put up the lyrics, too, since it would be easier to catch the wit and story.) Elements of Tori Amos, as well, tone of my favorites. Really enjoyable. It cries out for live performance, I hope you are able to do it. [ Reply to This ]
you &mdash 02/02/07 - 07:47:16 PM

gorgeous &mdash 02/04/07 - 12:13:59 PM
You know, I think the stand-up bass would be beautiful or you could ditch the drums and it would be perfect, too with just voice and piano. I think I agree the drums and piano (for this song) are not prime, but I think you know that. I am a fan of your music and voice. Thank you. [ Reply to This ]
Fine work &mdash 02/27/07 - 09:11:40 PM
You've got a wonderful strong voice - sounds like you're singing with no effort at all. And that piano is delicious. Not sure about the drums - they don't always fit to my ears (perhaps I'm being over sensitive but I've had a bad experience with GB jazz drums myself). All in all tho' a witty and delightful track.
