Genre? &mdash 01/31/07 - 08:38:16 PM
I always have trouble with selecting a genre. What does this fit into? Techno? Experimental?

electro prog rock &mdash 03/02/07 - 12:18:12 PM
like Tangerine Dream.... er I guess prog rock, techno is more dancy, clubby, euroclub, detroit, berlin et al. I guess this could be "chillout euphoria" style... so er hmmm, hard to say really. Not wierd enough for experimental, but that is subjective... so er yup, progressive rock / electronica.. er still not sure!

Thats a gansta/electronic pond you made there!! I guess that would be experimental but it was cooler than that so i'd stay techno maybe.

Techno? &mdash 02/01/07 - 06:31:20 PM
Techno? Really? Techno sounds so "hard" to me. But maybe Techno encompasses everything electronic?

YIKES &mdash 01/31/07 - 08:47:36 PM
after the innocent intro, i definitely envisioned a huMONGUS frog, mutated beyond belief, rising out of the murky mud in slow motion to reveal its montrous self momentarily, only to sink underneath the surface again, waiting for a delicious morsel on the water's surface. I'M NOT GOIN IN! liked the fly buzzes. good little ear journey - anne

Nice splash &mdash 02/07/07 - 08:35:02 PM
This is very cool. Nice arrangement of instruments. A lot going on to keep it interesting and varied. Good job, Simon. Oh, and I like the crickets (frogs?) at the end.

very slippery &mdash 02/13/07 - 12:23:19 PM
Very nice, liked the little fly-sounds at the 1/4 mark, BIG intro, well-written transitions between sections, does give the feeling of some electronic pond, nice little percussive sound effects that are water-drip-like and "bloopy". I can imagine dragonflies and mosquito larva/fish darting around in a hyper-real sparkly world (definitely would make for a great CGI video.) The ending with the crickets was OK, but I almost wanted a final "plop" or splash sound to finish it off in the middle of the cricket-silence... and little ripples of sound afterward fading away. As it is, the ending was slightly anti-climactic. But overall, your melodies and choice of instruments is very good, this feels quite polished. I can tell a lot of work went into it!

Interestingly .... &mdash 02/13/07 - 12:34:18 PM
... I just listened to another "frog" song about five minutes ago .... "frogs" must be the new "people" .... I liked all the textures and sounds that danced their way through this one. OK .. tell me this ... was this my over active imagination or was one of those crickets burrowing their way into my ear at the end !!!! Totally freaked ME OUT! good ending tho!

I like the contrast of the grand opening (that's one humongous frog, indeed) to the quick, little fly-like intro, and again when you fall back to the tiny synth.
A nice little, subtle flute melody you've got going now. Oh, and a very nice transition to the bigger chorus. I really like your progression here. And another nice transition to the fast bouncy synth.
I was kinda expecting something more (something high-tempo) to follow, but it had to end somewhere, right? And this was as good a place as any.

All in all a very enjoyable track. Enough progression to keep me interested but not too many to confuse me and I really liked your transitions - very smooth.

Very nicely done!

Somehow reminds me ... &mdash 03/29/07 - 10:31:17 AM
of some earlier works of the pretty unknown British band "Greenhaus". Again, I definately wouldn't sort it under "Techno", but I have to admit it's difficult (for some reason MacJams doesnt't distinguish electronical subgenres like Electronica, Electronic, Trip Hop a.s.o. when submitting songs ... or am I blind?). Nevertheless a very nice listen.
