Description:
A song I have had in my head for a few months now, but I never have the time or energy to do recordnings nowadays. I hope to return soon, and take part in this great community, like I once used to do.

This song isnt even finished, only, still some lyrics that needs to be written. However, I dont see me finishing this in a while, so i might as well get it out on the streets now.

It is a live performance, I recorded the guitar and vocals in one take, which i have started to like. And added som harmonies afterwords.

I am planning a new album nowadays, and have lots of songs ready for recording. And i am quite sure that this song will be part of it.

I wrote this song in november i think, Christmas was getting nearer and I was tired of it already. Tired of all the wrong focus we have in this world. We never seem to care about the important stuff anymore. "Progress, progress, results, results!" I hear them screaming. I came to think of a thing when writing this song. If you have been at someone for dinner etc. People always ask :" What did theyr house look like, etc" Instead of asking " what did you talk about?". Which is a far more interesting question... well, me writing everyday philosophy in english never turns out well. Lets hope it is possible to understand what i mean ;). Enjoy the song, if you ever listen to it.

Lyrics:
Foreign Place

1
I should have gone to the foreign place
where nobody would know me, where nobody could show me around
I should have chosen, the unknown path,
were none had made direction or regulations that are bad
for me, to be, within

2.
We should have chosen a different place
Were things that really matters, were the only tings that people really wanted
Instead everyone is craving for all the stuff
That doesn’t make us happy, but people keep forcing us to buy
Spend all that you have

Ref:
Spend it all one someone
That doesn’t pretend
Use all that you have
On someone , that are friends

Love this song Magnus! Modern western society is based on everyone buying lots of useless things they don't really need. And of course if you don't really have the money, whip out the old credit card and go into debt.

One of your best yet I reckon &mdash 02/03/07 - 12:09:21 PM
A real poignant feel to this one...and your singing is really great. Good acoustic guitar sound too

i like this a lot.

you managed to get a good sound for the live take. :)

i'm not sure how unfinished it really is. i guess that's all up to you. but if this is just a demo, it's a great one!

Magnus! Welcome back! &mdash 02/04/07 - 06:52:26 PM
Your recordings are getting better and better... this is bright, crisp and clear... sure, it sounds like a bedroom demo, but it sounds like a GOOD bedroom demo... VERY present.... It's like you're in the room... You're guitar playing and time are getting stronger and stronger...

Love the song, too... From your soul to ours...

Great picture too... you're just poised to be a singer-songwriter heartthrob...

Do I have to buy this ;o) &mdash 02/05/07 - 05:52:57 PM
.. er no .. stop being silly. Enjoyed this - some
sweet moments and it certainly works for capturing the
feel .. inspires me to have a go sometime at
singing, playing and recording at the same time - you
do it very well and make it look easy - I'll most likely get confused.

Poignant little ditty.

Very nice! &mdash 02/16/07 - 08:22:07 PM
I like the rough edge that occasionally surfaces in your voice--a result of the "live" take. It makes it much more intimate and present. And your harmonies are really working well in this tune!
Faved and downloaded!
