Description
When I play this live as a solo piece, it's a three chord song, with the fourth chord introduced in the bridge. When I recorded it I decided not to use any guitar. It really changed the demeanor of the song...

Lyrics
Sometimes I Feel

here on my couch
in this room there is only my voice
that reflects off these walls
in my home made world
all the monsters know my name
and hunger is always at the window

sometimes I feel
like I’m waiting here for something to happen
sometimes I feel
like I’m standing here for someone to notice
another day goes by and I wonder why

I often stare
out the window and watch through the glass like a TV show
hoping you will walk by and I’ll know that it’s you
please come inside
to my Technicolor world
I would love to offer you some toast and tea

sometimes I feel
like I’m waiting here for something to happen
sometimes I feel
like I’m standing here for someone to notice
another week goes by and I wonder

why does the snow taste so sweet
why does the rain turn into little drops of sun
and the moon disappears with out a word
is there some kind of message I misunderstood

sometimes I feel
like I’m waiting here for something to happen
sometimes I feel
like I’m standing here for someone to notice
sometimes I feel
like I’m waiting here for something to happen
sometimes I feel
like I’m standing here for someone to notice
another year goes by and I wonder why

Catchy groove !
Great voice, good composition, everything well done, except, maybe, the bass line I'm not really crazy about, but it's just my taste. Xloaded anyway.

unusual in typical I. Spike fashion.
And that's a good thing. This has a very warm tone, like most of your tunes. Your voice appears; like the instruments have given birth to it -- it just goes together naturally like mashed potatoes and gravy.

It's feels anxious though %u2013 and partly because we're all glued to your lyrics. But there are three moments where the sun shines brilliantly, albeit only momentarily: "Monsters", "Technicolor" and "misunderstood". They are my favorite moments.

Naturally I love the synth parts. I can't quite figure out how the chimes fit with the the theme. I mean, if he is standing inside waiting, would he hear the chimes outside? Or maybe they're doorway chimes, and you're implying that the other person has opened the door to step in? I don't know... But this is another truly eccelectic offering by you. I like this very much. And I really can't imagine it now with guitar. It'd be neat to hear the "unplugged" version though. :-) Great singing, as always, and fantastic originality. Many kudos to you!

familiar little monsters....
...that know your name. Maybe they need toast and tea? ;)

Lovely vocals. Shades of "King of Nothing" in the message...
I like the effects here and there. They remind me of a clock--the whirr of the mechanism and toll of the chimes. Waiting....minutes/hours/days passing...waiting....in a surreal timescape of clocks a la Salvador Dali.

"Another year goes by, and I wonder why...."

The bass riff!
...is outstanding, not to speak of the pitch-perfect singing and overall production quality. Excellent CD-ready songwriting and performance, reminds me of George Michael's better work, especially the second half. The chorus is very efficient and the percussive details you mix in just add this extra interest which made me listen to this a few times just to make sure I didn't overhear anything the first time!

Smooth
This is a cool little track, but I'm so used to your dark sense of humour, I can't figure this out. So i'll take this straight - your voice sounds great on this, the mix is total pro ... reminds of George Michael at his peak.

Thanks...
I appreciate your willingness to see another side of my music. Yes this is more of a serious piece. I'm pretty diverse in my imagination, and consider nothing off limits, therefore I can go anywhere.... whether or not anyone else wants to follow... well that's up to them....
Ciao!

I've always...
..been impressed with the work you've done. And the George Michael comparison was a compliment ... Praying for Time, not Young Guns (although maybe you do put shuttlecocks down your pants, who knows?).

I'm sorry I missed this one
I thought I had you on my e-mail notification setting... The little subtle things that actually make a song feel finished, are the things that you pay attention to... before I go there, let me say this song is great, It has the mystery and witt that I've come to associate with I.Spike... minus the humor, and that's a good thing... you begin to wonder about the guy that only tells jokes every time you see him, (not that "Today" was at all humorous)... you couldn't be this good without being a multi-dimensional person... your production is textured and gritty... great keyboard layers! very smart arranging, and the bridge arrives just when my ears are ready for that departure... like I said, I'm sorry I missed this, but I fell off the earth for the last 2 months, and hope to float back soon...

Thank you my friend.
Scott,
You always have the nicest and most eloquent things to say about my music. Thank you very much my brother!

This song hasn't gotten much attention, so it's also a pleasure to see that someone actually listened to it.
Right on!

Quite Flavorful
I really like this. It has a smooth European Urban Hippness about it. I love the lyrical structure--no rhymes. Like two and half maybe. I used to refuse to rhyme in my songs. Now I can't seem to stop. Gotta get back to that non-rhyming. Great voice, vocals and harmonies. Not crazy about the bridge though. For me it doesn't seem to live up to that fabulous groove you've got going in the verse and chorus. But I'm not getting rid a Rolls Royce because it has a scratch on it. This is a keeper for sure.

Glad to have my copy...
I was listening to my iPod last night before I went to sleep and this song came on. I was amazed from the opening notes - I particularly enjoyed the bass part in the intro, but there's nothing played on this song that I didn't find brilliant.

Every synth sound you add is so creative and completely in the pocket that I could listen to this over and over. The vocal tracks are world-class, as are the arrangement and the production.

I also enjoyed where you went with this lyrically. I appreciate the small glimpse inside you this gives. It reveals a not-unexpected depth.

This song is spectacular. Completely professional, really well done on every level. I'm grateful to have it on my iPod.

Right on!
Thanks for taking the time to listen to this one... I kind of felt like this one got a bit ignored. This was based on a challenge to myself to use two chords in the verse and chorus (I flip their order in the chorus), and then introduce one other chord change in the bridge. I liked the blue eyed soul/pop vibe that came out... Thanks for diggin' it!
Ciao!
