Lyrics:
These big ideals we struggle for
Make you rich and make you poor
I dont really trust you anymore
Well I'll be fine in my small way
Hoping I can help when you can't face the day
All I need is someplace warm to stay and I pray

For the night and the day
To bring a simple song our way
We can sing for a while
And forget this pain and smile
There is fire in the sky
And it makes me wonder why
We should live in so much fear
Seems that love is miles away yet so near

Well outside the city on a windy hill
Theres a black hawk circling diving in for the kill
You were born to raise hell and the wars are never finished still
But the name on the shirt spells R.I.P
I wont even walk to get from A to B
Cos time is moeny and its money that you need to see
Well our kids upstairs wont even swim in the stream
Theres a fancy world behind a monitor screen
But the creatures are escaping and the children are beginning to scream
So I dream..

For the night and the day
To bring a simple song our way
We can sing for a while
And forget this pain and smile
There is fire in the sky
And it makes me wonder why
We should live in so much fear
Seems that love is miles away yet so near

So let this be my epitaph
He loved to cry,he loved to laugh
But when dictators of society called he was taking a bath
And if you choose to walk this road
Be sure you know which way the rivers are flowing
Cos I climbed to the summit of my soul then I had to keep going
Just keep going..

For the night and the day
To bring a simple song our way
We can sing for a while
And forget this pain and smile
There is fire in the sky
And it makes me wonder why
We should live in so much fear
Seems that love is miles away yet so near

nice, reflective contemporary folk. &mdash 02/05/07 - 11:21:17 PM
I really like the chord structure on this. Familiar, yet some interesting turns, too. Instrumentation is gentle. It draws me into your story, and then when I reflect on the lyrics, I can really relate (particularly the kids watching the fancy world behind a monitor screen. That hit quite close to home for me.) You use your voice so well on this - really clean, yet warm sound.

thanks kristy &mdash 02/19/07 - 05:36:32 PM
- yeah - Its possibly my own fear coming out in that I'm aware that I spend far much more time in front of the computer than out in the woods than I used to.Just worried that this may be true of others too and the implications of kids growing up with the new communication. It might not necessarily be a bad thing - my neice has actually made alot of friends from myspace so maybe its a bit pessimistic of me,really. Thanks for noticing the lyrics though x

I'm with Kristyjo, this is beautifully done. It moves me with its simplicity, yet has many things to think about. I'd love to sing with you sometime. :-)

you commit yourself so completely to the song. Everything you do is so straight from the heart - I'm really impressed. Thanks for this tune.

thanks - I mostly sing from the heart but sometimes I do put on a silly mask if you know what I mean - as in the 'tits' song. But even then I guess its sillyness that comes straight from the heart!
