Description:
This is an old track that's been totally reworked. The vocals and lyrics are by Pete Cheney, lifted from an old recording. I'll get over this obsession with choir vocals soon, I promise.

Lyrics:
~GEARS~

Empty thoughts caught me unawares,
Some people stare at the bike I like.

Gotta German machine, blue daggy jeans
Over green pants.

Phantoms in my head.

Go for a stroll...

The ugly dogs are barking and teenagers parking.
Selling dope on the street.

Lurked around for years, praying away fears.
Always changing gears.

Cos' when you hit the shift you get a lift.

The dreams turn in your mind... time.
You remember a scene that warms your mind... time.

And you are actually thanking God for many delights.
You don't like fights, so it couldn't be too bad.

You know about being sad with that jealousy-soaked anguish.
But you got over it by learning another language.

Still you live, still you breath.
You haven't thieved though you've been deceived.

Hasn't everyone you know?

Got quiet, gone through the hoop of fire.
And tried it again.

And again comes the winter rain...

Well geared setting &mdash 02/05/07 - 01:17:09 PM
This is a very cool setting for your poetry. Consider placing ti under "Spoken Word" since I always feel like tracks placed under "Other" become orphaned somehow...

Yeah I have trouble finding the appropriate category for my stuff, so I just opt for 'other'. However will give your suggestion a go. Cheers, Trev.

Love the words on this (Pete Cheney must be some writer), and also the way you present them. The backing has all the builds and nuances that I've come to expect from your posts. I really enjoyed this one.

Yes, Pete's a truly unique creature, a bit of a suburban outcast. Robert Crumb's brothers in the 'Crumb' movie capture his way of life pretty well. I hope to get more out of him at some stage, he writes a lot of this sort of material.

to fully appreciate the sheer beauty of this at first, found it a bit cold, but the great bed of sounds and the haunting melody makes the whole thing hypnotic and, in the end, really moving. Great work, Rovert.

I like the way the words and sounds compliment each other. It's a bit like DJ Shadow with the words as a rap element. Really like it!
