Description
I wrote this when I was 16 and had an unquenchable thirst for walking up hills. It doesn't mention that I usually had a pen-knife to wittle walking sticks with and a bottle of scotch (the scotch mysteriously contributed to dropping out of school and going to art college instead). The picture is taken from Devils Dyke,Sussex,England - an old favourite haunt

Lyrics
See how the little fishes jump
On this Bright morning
the sun is shining on the fields all around
Look now the lark is in the tree
On this bright morning
The clouds are driftig in the breeze all around

I'm far,far from home
High on a hill
Singing this song to praise the
Morning of great joy
Wont you sing along with me
Rum te dum te tum de dum te

See how I'm paddling in the stream
On this bright morning
The waters rushing past my feet all around
Look out - the farmers at the gate
On this bright morning
He's looking startled and suprised all around

I'm far,far from home
High on a hill
Singing this song to praise the
Morning of great joy -
won't you sing along with me?

La la la la la la

First, the photo
Very refreshing picture of a perfect day for walking. (It's -11 degrees farenheit here as I type.)
This is just a very happy song - I like it. The voices and instrumentation are sparkling. The vocals could have been a bit more in sync, occasionally they were rhythmically off - but they were very well tuned to each other. I assume this is you doing all of the parts, and that's why the vocal blend is so nice. Nice clarity and space in the vocals and the instrumentals.

A great start to a cold morning......
I'm not sure about the genre though.

Vivian Stanchall came to mind, with Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, the singer of Urban Spaceman.

I thought that the asynchronous singing added that human touch to the musical accompaniment and it wasn't apparent in a negative way.

First class. Great stuff. Now to listen to your other music.....

Not really opera....
After your last operatic outing I was expecting more of the same. I thoroughly enjoyed this but it must be difficult to sing with tongue so firmly in cheek :-)

Bonzos? Yes I'd go with that.

Cheers

Dick

And I forgot to say
I live about about 5 minutes drive from Devil's Dyke and take the dog up there regularly. A splendid place and definitely suitable inspiration for a song like this.

Cheers

Gilbert & Sully Sun
It has such a Monty Python feel, vivacious and full of joy. How can anyone not smile the entire way thru? Consider replacing the Casio synth strings with something less MIDI feeling. It hear a tuba here and there too, I think. A delight.

Where's the fat lady?
Opera always has a fat lady. It's not opera without a fat lady. Maybe she couldn't make it up the hill? Maybe this is more "cabaret" than opera, but enjoyable it is. Such a cheerful ditty.

Definately not Opera
In my ears anyway... But, it's very, very good as is. Reminds me of British 20's/30's dance/swing music - no matter what, it's really well done. A complete surprise, as this is the second song I take in from your repertoir.
I'll put on my flat hat, take my walking stick and join for this walk! /Mikki
