This is really good Bryn...fabulous vocals...probably one of the best male vocal tracks I have heard here on MJ. Your catalogue of songs is pretty impressive!
Look forward to hearing more

Please do keep posting more of these 'older' songs.

I agree with what's been said here: impressive, trippy, fab male vocals, wonderful atmospheric track.

I like.... :)

I guess I don't really get the 'trippy' comments....

It's more of a crooning spacey ballad/obsessive love song

In regards to the older stuff...yep, bit by bit it will make an appearance

...to me in the 'picture' i get from the lyrics...

"I'll find a room by the river and fill it with autumn leaves.....stars....and in my universe...."

Nice Bowie-style tune - liked the effects on your vocal, and the overall production was excellent. Minor nit - the initial "snare" sound really got to be annoying at first, but settled down once the instrumentation built up.
A well performed and recorded piece Bryn - impressed.

I value your comments.

I don't agree with you about the snare....but I understand what you are saying.

higher &mdash 02/07/07 - 01:12:32 AM
When you go into the higher registers with your voice it definitely has early David Bowie-esque type vibes to it. Really nice production. The deep surfy guitar awash in 'verb was also a treat.

Thise are not my vocals - but those of Robert Shaw...I agree a fantastic singer (but also an amazing musician/producer/video artist too)

I am so pleased I have got to work with him a couple of times

Great to discover this... &mdash 02/09/07 - 12:14:06 AM
The minimalist arrangement has a magnetic appeal in the case of this song. Great vocal timbre! I like the echoes and reverb initially but then as the song progresses it becomes more of a distraction. I would have prefered it to be used as a highlight effect rather than a beginning-to-end effect. Overall though, I would say this song is quite effective.. It has a really sombre, sentimental and almost mournfully romantic atmosphere to it. Composition wise, it is quite refreshingly unique with a very strange dramatic appeal to it. For me, the last quarter kinda dragged along and died slowly a bit with very little lyrics and robbed some of the build up that it generated earlier, but I guess that's how you really want it. Still overall, thumbs up on this!

I find your comments very interesting from the perspective that you are looking at it from.

I guess my aim was to build up the track in order to let it fizzle out into 'nothing' and on this (as with most music I do) I try to avoid working with conventional structures and idioms.

Mysti has highly recommended you to me. I will be checking out your site soon.

PinkFloydish... &mdash 02/09/07 - 01:09:32 PM
On the second sentence you sing I think the echo is too much. Having said that leaves me nothing else to say than epic!!!

Such a great, timeless song..wich rich emotion...a touch of APP and Pink Floyd makes this song nostalgic and fresh at the same time

Good job!!

a nice build-up through the song. Great vox.

The end was a bit abrupt, but I liked the song very well

love it &mdash 02/10/07 - 05:40:53 PM
Has a brian eno david sylvan feel. The arrangement works well the bass line carries it while the lyrics pull it together and everything else just simply revolves around that. Very cool

creativity on pro-level &mdash 02/12/07 - 06:17:15 PM
Really like the simplicity and clarity of this song. Slow buildup carried almost entirely by the vocals gradually revealing that you REALLY know what you're doing dramatically and musically! I was thrown off at first because the vocal effects (I believe that's what people might refer to as "trippy") come in right away without giving you time to fully appreciate the sonorous voice. Something that didn't bother on my second listen. The guitar is very effective and blends beautifully with the sound you've set up here. Track echos beautifully worked into the background sounds. Sure, the vocals are confident and expressive but I'd like to give credit to the arrangement and instrumentation/sound effects (since that's what I can relate to more). The ending I felt could be longer, meaning letting the voice finish the phrase and fading out more gradually. Excellent work here though, on all levels!
