The waster's song from AmokOpera. Thanks to Ian Ferrin for the flourishes and to my therapist friend Tom Franz.

Great fun. Wonderful sung. Love the xylophone. The strings, in my ears, are too mushy, too much reverb, should be more marcato, less swells (in the horns, especially); it would make it cleaner, simpler, smaller, funnier? Very good writing and witty performance. You sound like you have a great time.

Thanks Tobin &mdash 02/06/07 - 02:26:48 PM
Yes there's more reverb than I thought on the standard patches. Marcato unfortunately is not really an option within the orchestral jam pack unless someone knows a way of using the expression/modulation/foot control to get the effect.

I rather like the swells and I think if I take the reverb out they might sit better in the overall mix.

I appreciate the comments and the listen :)

Yes, it is good fun and is certainly stretching my musical, boundaries (and there's still 8 songs to do!)

Many thanks

Dick

Sounds great. The strings are a really nice touch. Bringing the vocal way out front on this type of song helps a lot too, it is a "show tune" after all. Nice job! I'll be watching for the other 8.

It's not what I originally envisaged but all in all I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Cheers

Nice to hear the good old British comedy song tradition is alive and well ... brought up to date for the NooLabour Age but universal and timeless at the same time. The lyrics are well observed and the delivery spot-on.

Er ... now if you'll excuse me I just have to go and stare out the window for a bit. Wears me out writing these comments.
