... not only to sing all those harmony parts ... but to mix them perfectly into the tune ... I hear a lot of growth in your stuff ... especially in your ability to control the urge to burst out in a "star search moment" .... the stronger vocal parts were more controlled and level thus making the performance as a whole a pleasant listening experience. I know vocal inflections are difficult to change when they form part of your "accent" ... but I would keep an eye on those "the's" ... in a couple of spots they came out as "duh's". (I actually didn't want to put that last part in .... but if I am gonna start giving "honest" critiques here at Macjams ... I need to point out what I am hearing which I think if addressed would make the song that much better). Leon you RAWK in my books and have one of the most amazing talents here on Macjams ... Thanks so much, Alannah! I have learned from previous remarks in the past about trying to contain my big voice in the BIG parts, and I'm glad to hear that I have somehow managed to do that well in this song. The harmonies were just so much fun to do, and there really isn't any special tricks to it. I kinda listen to the main melody first and then try to invent my own different melodic line withiout much attention to the main melody, and when you mix them together it's amazing that a counterpoint voice has been made and they blend quite well. I would like you to experiment on that yourself, since you have such an amazing voice. As for the "the" sounding like "duh" in a couple parts, I guess I've been around silly kids (and adults) too much lately. Duh! Ha-ha. Thanks so much for your wonderful review. I just love reading your very generous and honest thoughts!

This one is my most ambitious project to date, considering how elaborate the arrangement was, and thanks for noticing the amount of work put into it. I think that is the mark of a true musician in you.. you notice the build, the details, the structure... just as i have learned from other guys' music in here. Neat sway to this one, brotha! What is that pulse, a Latin influence? For a drummer, I never was very good at identifying basic beats (rhumba/samba/etc). Vocals are right on, excellent voice, well mixed, panned and harmonized. Very nice chorus/bridge overlap at the end - you manage a great counterpoint there. Well-produced nugget of pop! Nothing intentionally Latin about this song. The background beat was hip-hop/eurobeat but you know, they can be easily interchanged with a slight change of cadence. Thanks for taking time to listen and finishing it to the very end, Kinda long but I did save the best part for last. Truly appreciate your encouraging feedback.

I have a preference for pop-rock and offer no apologies for it (although this one borders on a little hiphop). I think it is a genre that has the widest range of possibilities. Thanks for the email about this track. I actually listened to it a couple days ago, but wasn't in the writin' mood. Sometimes you just wanna listen, you know. But now, back to the song. I like the refrain/response vox the back and forth is great. Nice production and choices made in the stereo split of the vox. Your voice is crystaline as usual, I can't even venture a critique of that--it's futile. I dig this track, but I feel it is a little drawn out. Sometimes a statement is more poinant when it is short. ... from 2 weeks holiday, and this is a great way to come home. I really love the backing to this , Leon , smooth but with a great groove. Great structure - I love how chorus B ups the ante, and starts chugging along. This is such a summer song ....a real pop gem.
Leon, you always write great stuff, but this is probably one of my favourites of all the songs you've posted - it's an awesome vocal you've put down here. Classy, but original - I love it.
