evil twin (1)
Description:
This is a song that started out as song with no direction. And thanks to Alanna this song became a lot better. She wrote the lyrics and sang..I did the bass guitar and drums and keys..
And on lead is one of my oldest sons friends Robert Shepard, This young man did a great job.
Thanks you two for helping out and making this song work

Hmmm? &mdash 02/09/07 - 07:29:05 PM
The song is a little loose. Tighten those screws. Has a jangle groove to it.

Your no Kurt Cobain on Vocals but not bad. Raspy i tell ya. You also sang on the solo which is a No No! Hahaha!

Nice one cadillacs!

Cool and sexy &mdash 02/09/07 - 08:35:28 PM
Alannah's textured voice really breathes life to this song! I listened to this song without knowing that it was Alannah singing and I thought, "Damn, that's a sexy voice!" Then I read the description... It sounded a little different from her previous songs as this one sounds more conventional (as opposed to her usual experimental style) and this sounds very good! The guitar playing really compliments her singing and quite romantic, a few almost negligible rough spots in the beginning, but overall fingers are quite nimble on those strings. Sound is crisp, and love its understated arrangement altogether. Thumbs up!

very nice! &mdash 02/09/07 - 09:09:16 PM
Alanna really does a wonderful job. the slightly odd breaks you throw in is a nice way to break up that nice smooth rythm that is the core of this song. very pleasent!

Glad you decided &mdash 02/10/07 - 10:35:29 AM
to keep working on this I think I heard this one before. With Alanna singing it adds a whole new level to the all around sound of the song. Very cool and nice listen!

good stuff &mdash 02/10/07 - 07:39:01 PM
Nice little jam here you two. The guitar & bass need a little EQ to sound fuller (I think they're a little midrange-heavy?) but they don't sound too bad, and the bass & guitar are played quite well. Alannah's singing always is full of life and emotion, so the good music and good singing are great fun. As Biz points out, she slides around a little over the song meter, but that just makes it more organic and "live" sounding.

Interesting &mdash 02/11/07 - 10:09:34 AM
Alanna has a great voice. Honestly, without the vocals the song wouldn't be all that great. And I gotta agree w/ Dr. Bizzare, the singing over the solo just detracted from both. Very cool lyrics though.

Awesome! &mdash 02/11/07 - 02:28:07 PM
I couldn't comment on this one before ..I was new ...
but now I can..

a super song. I love the voice a lot. Rich of emotions.
next to that the music is guiding her perfectly...
Maybe you don't think it is a compliment but I hear a Janis Joplin here...and I am loving it!!!

Thanks for all the great comments ... &mdash 02/11/07 - 02:36:32 PM
.... I have been accused of "singing over the solo" a couple of times now ... however, in my defense, I did the vocals on this song actually some months ago .... (long before I learned NOT to sing over the solo) .... and to be honest ... at the time .... I didn't KNOW where the solo was .... eeeeps! Now ..... I play "spot the solo" with myself BEFORE I start to record all over it .... hopefully I have improved with a couple of my newer tunes ....

MAN! &mdash 02/13/07 - 11:32:26 AM
What a Rake on those Vocals!

Real Good Ensemble and Mx (maybe a Gate missing, but no harm).

Nice Run Down the Road, Here.

Club Trio &mdash 02/13/07 - 01:10:47 PM
Alannah! Nice rescue job. What a trio. Great production values. Emotion waxing the walls and resonating with the 60 watt overhead bulbs! Men held spellbound, women adjusting spines and eye tension in their hardback chairs. Superb. Wish I was there when Alannah laid this down.

Smooooooth &mdash 02/20/07 - 03:13:23 PM
Very smooth track. Superb vocals and groove. Great guitars, incl. lead and bass, and great rhythm section. I think the talking section would work better with less reverb and more close-up-to-the-mike-whispering, if you know what I mean. I think the synth sounds that come in when Robert starts playing lead sound a bit cheap. They could be a lot warmer. In the end, the rhythm guitar, percussion and voice is simply magnificent. Shame you didn't post the lyrics, even if they were impro'd. :O)

overall - great song &mdash 03/04/07 - 11:17:41 AM
Great song, great lyrics, great execution. Nice rich jazzy sounds. And really great vocals by Alanna. Things got better when more instruments came in to fill it out. Ive been dying to get a good female singer to cover some of my songs.

flows like chocolate &mdash 05/21/07 - 10:12:03 PM
it is smooth guitar playing, and sensual crooning. however, there is a dangerous side too. it is worrisome, but it is wanted. a dangerous dichotomy. it is well crafted, nicely sung, and well performed. 0x0

Dig &mdash 08/08/07 - 02:03:13 AM
Some really hip sounds going on here.
1.Alannah
2.Creative Arrangment
3.That Bass line
Did I say Alannah
4.That guitar solo(could dig it w/o Alannah so I could here it better)
That Break with the guitar solo is very hip.
Also, I dig the beat with the bongos ,but at times it sounds a bit funky.

Great concept for a lyric
(I gave up the numbers)
I love this tune
its the sound of it
the over all sound

tough time &mdash 09/02/07 - 10:12:03 AM
Ive had to tough time finding someone local to sing this song in the studio.
Alannah did a great job in just a few mins. I almost flew her in from Canada to sing it....
