Keywords:
mellow (91)water (49)crimson (1)lay down (1)calm (47)
Description:
another old Fostex 8-track demo.
this one actually turned out alright.
there's still some places i'd like to mix a little differently, but i no longer have access to the raw tracks, so i think my only option is to re-record it, which shouldn't actually be too big of a deal; it's only 2 guitar and 2 vocal tracks.

Lyrics:
so lay me down, under the waterway.
Sharpen the clouds, slowly we crawl away.
Slow are we now to drift into sullen haze.
so lay me down under the waterway.
Wisdom fails you now.
Lonesome and pale new crown.
So lay me down, into the riverbed.
Shaping the sounds, I talked you into it.
Too late to surround myself with your innocence.
So lay me down into the riverbed.
Wish upon fallen stars.
How handsome and frail we are.
It's only for those who...
...step to the rhythm to intice precision while holding provisions in front of me; swim through the river, believing in visions of wholly new crimson unravellings;
tied to the ribbon that binds them to heaven, thier home-made complexities stick to me;
straddle the wishing well and give away your happiness; hold on to whatever else happened here... so lay down.
So lay me down, into the calmest wave.
So bloody loud, it cuts into everything.
Soldiers and clowns are haunted for my mistakes.
So lay me down, into a shallow lake.

Sounds like this is worth polishing up. Cool lyrics, and harmonies. Thanks for sharing.

and as deep as the river that I lay you down in. I revel in your imagery and brilliant choice of words. You have so many gems posted here, regardless of thier lack of polishing. Too bad I can only fave you once.

Brooding surrender &mdash 03/20/07 - 07:32:22 AM
Absolutely love the lines "Too late to surround myself with your innocence" and "Soldiers and clowns are haunted for my mistakes." The songs is too good to not develop a little more. There is a sense of rambling and self-indulgence that this demo tends towards, even tho I really like it, and if you arranged the sections, created variations, provided some little behind-the-story sonic details, it could be a masterpiece effort. Lines like "step to the rhythm to intice precision while holding provisions in front of me" deserve highlighting by setting them up better in the arrangement. "Tied to the ribbon" is not so shabby either. Great poetry, delivered with bent backed brooding, like a Pearl Jam unplugged session. Really nice writing. (Several misspellings in the lyrics, by the way.)

what has gone before. Very nice song that could certainly benefit from re-doing.

thanks again &mdash 07/10/07 - 09:05:38 PM
Yeah, this is one of my personal favourites; out of the acoustic stuff anyway. I'm usually pretty unsatisfied with my songs, but I'm kind of proud of this one. I like the flow and the structure...and the lyrics...and the harmonies (which I should record again to get it a little tighter).

Sometimes I ramble.
