Description:
COLLABORATION IDEA
==================
I recorded this a while back. The idea was to try my hand at a bit of pseudo-jazz and then get collaborators to replace all my instruments with proper recordings, proper scalings, etc. There is no doubt that the track would be very different and much much better by the end of it. I'm still very keen to see this happen, if any jazz musicians out there wanna give it a go...
MUSICIAN BOARD
==============
DOCTORBIZARRE has offered to add a guitar part to this track, so that's band member #1.
I'm still looking for a jazz pianist, saxophonist, drummer and double-bass player... Any takers??
I think we should get the band together first and then discuss which would be the best order to record stuff.
BAND NAME
=========
I'm thinking we should call the band the Singapore Noodles. Why? Because I'm hungry.
Hardware:
Roland D-50 and XV-5080
Software:
GB2

nice & haunting... &mdash 02/13/07 - 06:57:12 PM
..this ain't no 'poor man's jazz'...I really like the sparseness here. The colours fit so nicely and the piece just 'flutters' along (just like the schmetterling!) What you've done with the bass is amazing! Is it really GB?
Good stuff!

Liar! &mdash 02/14/07 - 03:43:48 AM
The drums are GB loops and I'll check tonight if I used any other loops but I don't think so. [ Reply to This ]
why... &mdash 02/13/07 - 07:18:26 PM
does everysong entitled butterfly sound so subliminal to me..!
is it because they are named butterfly?
no :) it's just a coincidence that you are as well as tremendously inspired, musically insightful to catch the mystic side of whatever impression that a word, theme 'butterfly' could bring.. loved the jazziness, loved the abstract yet enchanting mood of this song..
thank you for sharing this track! [ Reply to This ]

Excellent. I really enjoyed this. Nice piano playing. You have some nice lines. I think the piece needs a more definitive melody. Otherwise to reiterate excellent! [ Reply to This ]

Yeah, There &mdash 02/14/07 - 10:37:46 AM
Like the Progression.
Like the Kit.
Like the Collab Idea, a Lot.
This is pretty Solid, just the way it is,
(I could do without the audience, though. I sense a space, as is).
Best Regards,

JAZZASAURUS! &mdash 02/14/07 - 11:49:37 AM
Cool track man! I agree that real instruments could really liven this up! The piano part was cool but i wasn't really feelin the sax part. No alot of soul in it but I'm sure when you get some real players this will be amazing. Sounds pretty sweet as is though. I love playing Jazz too! [ Reply to This ]

I enjoyed this much. I'm not too fond of the audience, but it doesn't take away from the pleasure. Thanks. . - Harold [ Reply to This ]
Super nice &mdash 02/15/07 - 05:23:17 PM
Super nice piano chord progressions. The intro is calm in a very pleasant way! Like it when the piano comes back. The tune has depth. [ Reply to This ]

smooth &mdash 02/16/07 - 09:34:33 AM
smooth as the proverbial baby's bottom. piano and horn sound so good together. the percussion and bass were used discreetly to achieve maximum effect. you've made a really tasty, classy piece. enjoyed! anne [ Reply to This ]
Welcome Back &mdash 02/17/07 - 11:58:21 AM
I thought it was a sax &mdash 02/18/07 - 12:47:48 AM
Is that a sax or a trumpet. Either way it suffers from the sythn sound. The piano, drums and bass are nicely done.
A jazz organ might sound nice in there too. I don't mind the audience. They sounded like jazz junkies. [ Reply to This ]

edgy play &mdash 02/22/07 - 09:42:30 PM
Lovely bass work. Main melody hook and chord selection remind me a little of Stewart Copeland's jag when he scored for that revenge TV series back in the eighties. Full of playful sinisterness. [ Reply to This ]
