Keywords:
Don Juan (4)sax (55)alto (7)karmatoburn (8)hectorious (20)
Description:
Months and months and months after both Karmatoburn and Hectorious asked me to play on this tune, I finally broke down and did it. Been a long hard road for me in wanting to do much music what with personal issues going on in my life, but I'm realizing that this has been long overdue.

Ziti did a really cool version with guitar that was very smooth, so I decided to go for a slightly different approach.

I actually had several alternate takes on this song. The first one I did last year when these guys asked me to do it, but I just wasn't happy with the result, so I thought I needed to put it down and let it rest for another time. I did a couple of other takes straight through last night and just kept one, hence the mistakes I have in there.

You guys are fantastic. Thanks for having me on this ditty. :)

Edit: Oh yeah, thanks to Hectorious for the pic. :)

Ed... it seems that anything you do is going to be worth waiting for... I hope everything is going well in the life stuff... the road isn't always straight...

there are a few guys on this sight that have such a command of their craft, that they could absolutley be pro... you're one of those guys... and the team assembled here doesn't hurt either, does it

exellent

Thanks for the kind comment! &mdash 02/16/07 - 07:12:28 PM
Actually it was at Hectorious and Karmatoburn's urging several months ago that prompted this.

And yep, that's me on sax. :)

When Hector's new twins finally let him on line, he is absolutely gonna freak. Ed, outstanding in all regards. Such a cool vibe you added. I can tell your adding something in the end part, as well, (not sax?) Sort of a vocoder sound...very neat.

... that was me singing with pitch correction turned all the way up since I suck at vocals. :D

And thanks for your gracious invite in playing on your tune. :)

It's has been a long Time since I wrote anything on Mac Jams. I've been very busy with my wife and New borns this week. My twins were born on Monday Feb. 12, 2007.

Thank you Ed, I trully appricate you time and talent on this Tune. You have Outstanding feel and Tasty Chops. Great work on that Sax my Friend. Thanks again for giving this idea a chance. :0}

Yes, I read your comment on that other Idea I posted a while back. I am open to any idea's you have on that little ditty.

My God... &mdash 02/16/07 - 07:08:16 PM
... if anything, I feel like I owe you and John major apologies in spades for letting this sit on my plate for so long.

My participation comes and goes here largely due to personal (and time) issues, but I still lurk a pretty fair amount.

Please know that I hold both of you in high regard and always enjoy listening to your projects.

Hectorious, I wish you the best with your twins. :)

Sax man play that horn! &mdash 02/16/07 - 07:51:50 PM
Dang, you're good! Excellent riffing over, hm, the kind of smooth jazz backing track that I just can't like, but don't mind me, you can make a million bucks doing it, so maybe I'm just a sourpuss, although I think I'm more envious of your playing than of the money you can make with it, so there goes your argument, and....

Eh..... what was I saying?

Oh, right. Excellent sax playing!

Victor.

I'm game for a new collab &mdash 02/16/07 - 10:16:03 PM
Thanks, man. I really appreciate it! :-)

I really enjoyed your version more, honestly. The sonic possibilities and range of the guitar are endless. I feel limited sometimes by what the sax has to offer (but then guys like Brandon Fields don't seem to have that problem, so it's probably just me...)

i agree &mdash 02/17/07 - 05:09:43 PM
but when the sax is played the way you play, it becomes it own universe. It is a sound that elicits responses that the guitar cannot....the expressiveness and tone of your sax sings very truthfully and sweetly, an erotic sizzle, and a far off lonliness....perfect!

KTB , and EDHARA et al..... &mdash 06/09/07 - 07:22:08 PM
I think it's about time for Y'all to get together on an entire album! KTB - Where did you learn to play like this?!!! Julliard?!!! Your command of the keyboard just makes me... (Sigh!)I'm a sucker for a great line! And Ed, Ohhh! Dear God in heaven! Words cannot describe how your saxophone playing makes me feel!!!! To quote another - "Like a bell skipping across a clear lake." ( from the movie Eddie and the Cruisers II) And Hectorious - you are sooo (explative) amazing!!! Your music reminds me a little of Carlos Santana. But, I have not visited your website yet because I have this extreme aversion to "South Park." I don't find that kind of juvenile humor amusing in the least. Your expertise speaks for itself!!!! But I can't seem to bring myself to click on that "demeaning to humanity" icon. My loss.:-(
And, Ed.... "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger!!!" (BELIEVE!!! HAVE FAITH!!!!- I know what of I speak. You, by force of sheer WILL - will reach the other side of whatever you are dealing with. It takes the courage of Lions to bear this earthly life sometimes, dearheart! Time does take the sting from sucking chest wounds - or whatever pain you're going through. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and act as if - and it will become bearable - then grist for the mill of creation.
