Description:
Basically a live track jam between myself and my friend Greg. Greg does the lead vocal and rhythm guitar and I am doing lead guitar and harmonly vocals. We are sitting in front of my eMac and using the built in mic. Dobro and harmonica were overdubbed afterwords by myself.

Energy! &mdash 02/16/07 - 05:53:00 PM
I like the energy and feel in this piece Thomas. You both seem to enjoy yourselves. I am also impressed by the sound you manage to get out of such a recording. It sounds very clean and still has the great live feel! It was very nice to hear a song where you are working together with someone else! Thank you for sharing this with us!

The best thing about other people coming over to jam is, that even if you don't feel good or have much energy, the music will energize you and make you feel good! Or at least that's the way it has worked for me. It is almost impossible for me to be in a bad mood while I'm playing and singing!

riding the rails &mdash 02/17/07 - 08:31:41 AM
I think that if Woody Guthrie was alive today and the railroads still ran like they should that he would have a battered old iBook in his backpack. Technology changes but people don't!

best folk &mdash 02/17/07 - 03:04:02 PM
artist on MacJams is Bronco..... this was a very good jam indeed, wouldn't mind to have a better recording though,
simply meaning a better mic for recording, music like this deserves a better mic than the built in eMac one....
Great down to earth folk music the way it should be... none of this contrived bullshit that is happening
in a lot of places.... Hope you and Greg get together again real soon and do more of this sort of thing....
Don't forget that you still have that Tele laying around, Tom, haha,,,,, there are a couple of good songs left in that old piece of wood, I know it.....

Cheers
Johnny

Thanks for the title Johnny! I'm just a lot more comftorable with acoustic than electric because I hadn't really played electric in the last 20 years.

Good one &mdash 02/21/07 - 05:47:16 AM
Nice song. Similar musically to Let It Rain IMO, which is a great song, and why I signed onto the site.
Keep it up, bronco!

Wow! What a great thing for you to say. I really appreicate it and welcome to McJams. I think you will find lots of other worthy songwriters and players here also. If you get a chance send me a note and let me know how you originally came across Let It Rain. I am always curious as to how someone new hears one of my songs.

Really Cool Jam! &mdash 02/22/07 - 02:25:53 PM
Bronco and Greg,
The Guitar playing back and forth grabbed my interest right away, Had to listen again to take in the singing and lyrics. That is hard to believe you used the eMac microphone (sounds really good!)
Love the Guitar Playing, Harmonica and I think you are going places on that Dobro!
Twisting and Turning!

Hey David &mdash 02/23/07 - 08:21:35 PM
I am happy to hear from you! I am trying to play every day now so I can keep my chops at a good level. It was really fun to play with someone else and also to not have to do one of my songs. I really enjoy doing cover songs and wish we could do that here without worrying about copyrights. As if any of us are going to cut into their income with our 30 or 40 downloads!

This has &mdash 02/22/07 - 05:24:33 PM
a nice intimate feel. Just sittin' around pickin' and singin'. Nice job. Hard to believe it sounds this good using the built in mic.

To eMac or Not To eMac &mdash 02/23/07 - 08:16:53 PM
Thanks for listening and commenting. Always nice to make a new musical friend! I find that for my acoustic folk/blues style stuff that the eMac mic seems to work just as well as my other mics. To me it is just a matter of convenience. It is so much easier to use the built-in mic rather than find the space to set up the mic stand, USB interface and then make sure that the boom extension stays put in the right position.

Great job guys! &mdash 02/25/07 - 02:13:09 AM
Great musicianship...your vocal harmonies are awesome.
The instrumental section was very impressive. Everything here works.
Long live folk!

Dead End Yeah! &mdash 02/26/07 - 12:37:41 AM
Thanks back to you guys! About the harmonies, I had never really done any until I hooked up with Greg 12 years ago and we started gigging together. He is the one that taught me some basic ways to do harmony. Then it just worked out that, because of our respective voice ranges, it was easier for me to sing the harmony part and Greg the lead.
