Description
Working with Alannah on this piece was a real pleasure. She has a great voice and feel for this kind of blues, sort of a ""Layla unplugged meets Big Brother and the Holding company" feel to me (Though she's more like Janis than I'm like Clapton). This is very different to what I'm used to doing, and it was great to get the chance!

Really like the earthy, bluesy feel to this. Nice job on both guitar and vocals.

alannah, i SO want a vocal with muscles like yours the next time around. you achieved maximum results with the minimal melody - i immediately envisioned you singing atop a piano ala Torch. vp - your music supports her beautifully - the groove was delivered with sexy confidence. mix was flawless, all elements integrated perfectly. um, did i say HOT? top notch, folks! anne

Vocal "muscle huh" ....
... well first you slowly blend in the cigarettes ... while adding the alcohol one ounce at a time ... stirring constantly ..... mix in a little polution and a pinch of car emissions ..... top the whole thing off with about 8 pounds of melted cheese and nachos ..... (OH MY Valley Pastor is gonna Kill me ... hahahaha) .... and voila .... vocal "muscle" ....

i can imagine sitting in a smokey lounge watching this act. i almost wish i'd taken up smoking just to fit into the scene.

Great style
I liked the vocals a lot, like a much more appealing Grace Jones. The guitar work was great, too, And I really liked the style of the song. Very cool.

I see what you mean about Joplin/Clappers! I would take a little reverb off Alannah's voice and bring her a little more to the front in the mix (just a teeny weeny bit). But, hell, I have no idea what I'm talking about! :)

Funnily Enough ....
... when I do the mixing there tends to be way too much reverb ... and my voice is way too far in front ... drowning out the music and ruining the song .... Valley Paster (I believe) used a little of what I sent him re: FX and then did a whole lot of magic and changed up some stuff and re-mixed the track ... trust me ... to my ears he did a MUCH better job than I did in the first place. I always say ... vocalists like to hear the vocals in front ... and musicians prefer to hear the vocals set back some so that the musical soundbed can shine ....

da blues, da bumps, da grinds...
I keep envisioning "Jessica Rabbit" (from the movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"). First, my critique: the very first spoken lines are way too soft in the mix, and need boosting. Now the good part: Really nice blues work here, slightly loose, but great feeling there Tom! And Alannah, as usual, writes nice sultry lyrics, then sings her heart out on this... wonderful job you two!

How funny ....
... Rolo and Dreadmon call me Jessica Rabbit as well .... the spoken part in the beginning - initially was really loud and full of echo and reverb ( hmmm wonder how THAT happened ) .... I had mentioned that perhaps it wouldnt be a bad idea to just delete the spoken part from the intro ... as I sort of initially put in in there as a guideline for myself to tell me when to start singing the singing part ... seemed I was having some difficulty when listening to the instrumental initially of WHERE my cue was to start singing .... weird logic I know .... but Valley Paster said he wanted to re-mix the first part to give it a more "intimate" feel and sound ... during some conversations in chat ... some people expressed that they disliked the intro ... and others liked it a lot ... I think if I were re-thinking it ... I would probably leave in a little bit of the spoken part and delete part of it ... I think there was way too much talkin going on perhaps in the beginning ....

The Blues..for real!
Hi folks I am amazed by this collab! I think you both did an fantastic job! The thing that in my opinion would tip it off...with other word would make it perfect in my eyes(ears)...is a little part spoken words.

That is the only reason I did not give a nine everywhere...

But Overall I think this tune has big potential!

... I'm not sure where you would put the extra "spoken words" .... originally Valley Pastor was going to supply some vocals to this as well ... but at some point felt it might crowd the tune .... so he left it with just my vocals. Some people have mentioned to me that they didn't care for the spoken part in the intro. Where would you put the spoken parts you speak of ???
