Description:
cjhoose says:
Thoddi's intro is what inspired my additions to his song. The guitar melody seemed to sum up the entire song with it's somehow lonesome, feeling. I added reverb to the section and placed it all around the song. The other instruments coming in are a banjo played on my keyboard and a few percussion tracks - bongos, tambourine, kick and whatever else I could find in my collection - also played with my keyboard. There would have been a lot work done, had I not run into a few brick walls, but it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless!
Thoddi says:
The file I sent CJ with my vox, whistling, guitar, bass and some organ, was meant as a sketch, just recorded in a hurry to get something to work with. Well, I am just thrilled to find CJ's additions to my tune. That girl really has the sense of rhythm. And the banjo was a treat to discover in there.
Thanks cjhoose:)
Lyrics:
More than this
Thor Oliversen©2007
There once was a boy
and there of course was a girl.
They met, made love, got children, got married
- Is there more than this?
The boy got a job
and got to be the leader of a crew.
They made it big,
like in everybody knew their name, yeah, big, big
- Is there more than this?
And the girl joined a punk band,
she was the drummer, she made fans.
Made a TV show, got a hit song,
and went on tour in the USA.
- is there more than this?
There is a river
and the ocean with the waves rolling on.
There is a rainy day,
and there is a newborn kid
And the univers is open to
whatever you do next...
So believe it -
- There is more than this

exciting song! your creativity sits well in my ear. there is a feel of easy confidence which slaps all the parts together in a laid back but very effective way. the mix is sassy and does things i want to remember to do. whistles, reverb, spacious pans and the cool vocal (I AM SUCH A FAN!) phrasing kept the mood strong. story is a good read - its question was borne out in your arrangment. mmmm, that bass is schaWEEEET. ya'll make some nice transitions. it's lovely - powerfully mellow. kudos to both of you - anne [ Reply to This ]
I was expecting .... &mdash 02/18/07 - 01:00:41 AM
... to hear Cj's "whispering willows" vocal stylings ... and was pleasantly surprised to hear that she sparkled in a whole new arena ... as did Thoddi ... with the up front vocal for the tune .... there is definitely something to be said for collabing with someone new ... you discover new things and talents that you might not have otherwise thought of .. that being said ... I loved the mellow relaxed feel of this tune .... left me craving more ! One day I too hope to venture into the actual development of the musical soundbed ... one day! [ Reply to This ]

I, too, love the overall vibe of this tune. It's chill, yet has elements of longing and contemplation. I love that. Great collab, you two! [ Reply to This ]

cool. I really like the loose, funky feel to this. NIce lyrics with a cool approach to life. I'm not a big fan of whistling in songs but it works great here. Nice job. [ Reply to This ]
Good on you guys &mdash 02/20/07 - 04:02:20 PM
What an interesting mix! (the good interesting) Totally dign' it - I always love hearing Thor; but I'm especially intrigued w/ the taste of this more exotic presentation of his works - Very nycccce!!! Quite distinctive meld of sounds! I'm not so sure about how you guys came about the intricacies it all, but it does me well.
Nice job, CJ, and Thor!

I liked the chorus, and the bass sounds great. I was surprised that a lot of the sounds were played on a keyboard. Really good stuff.
