Description:
Hey folks!

Illuminator/Rich made this song especially for me!!! It's jazzy shmazzy and was really fun to sing on.

Rich- "For those interested, the music is a mix of loops and MIDI played instruments. The bass and percussion are loop. The piano is a modified loop. The sax, guitar and organ are all software instruments played by me on Synth."

Linda- vocals, lyrics, yadda yadda yadda

Let me know what you think :-)

Hardware:

cool jazz &mdash 02/18/07 - 09:53:13 AM
Smooth and lazy. Nice sexy vibe... kind of monday morning blues feeling... The midi sax reminded me of some detective movie I've seen with a plot from the 50's. Gangsta' kind of thing.

Cool stuff! And yes, of course I love your singing Linda:)

Linda, this is great! You're so versatile, now you're singing jazz. But I like the attitude you bring to this, it's very emotional. Kudos to Rich as well.

Its always great to hear jazz.. i grew up with jazz.. I played bass in trio's back in the day. Infact I still have a string bass. This song reminds a lot of torch singing..With a bit of scat singing. get job.. Im saving this one

Amazing track! &mdash 02/23/07 - 08:44:14 PM
It is always really exciting to discover new tracks of exceptional quality, and this is certainly that! The deal-clincher in this song is the voice; just spectacular. A wonderful instrument, and you know exactly how to use it. It's got a really cool vibe happening. I really think it would strengthen the overall effect to lose the MIDI sax and get a real one in there. Maybe a MacJammin' sax player would be willing to collab with you? That would be awsome, I think.

Great work all around, and thanks for posting!

i agree and dissagree &mdash 04/02/07 - 10:12:16 PM
Yes me too except the part about the sax. I have always thought the keyboard sax was a little lame but i think its used perfectly here. It fits the scratchy loops creating a contemporary feel. The voice is so warm and the instrumentation so cold. Amazingly rich in contrasts. Its like as if there was a scene in a jazz club in blade runner or something.

Familiarity &mdash 05/27/07 - 11:30:24 AM
I realize now that I recognize you from another site that you music is on.
I should point out that I was an accountant in a past life, lived in my mothers basement, watched a lot of Star Trek and had an unatural infatuation with bunions.... not likely anyone you would know in any dimension or alternate reality.

Playing music is much more enjoyable if there is someone there to listen.

Linda, Great jazz vocal expression! You got the goods girl. Oh and don't be afraid to let your voice get a little dirty in the lower registers, especially in jazz and he blues.

Yu go woman!

that's def. good advice. I should let it get a little dirty in the lower registers. I am approaching my new songs with a bit more of a carefree spirit. I think that will help me overcome my perfectionist ways! Thanks for listening :-)

you can handle any genre thrown at you! This is stunning - love a jazz tune me - can't believe it's taken me a year to discover this gem!

This is great, a gig at the Blue Note for you, no problem!

DL'd (again!)
