A beautiful mix--I like it better than the one you posted a few weeks back. Definite download for me. Sure hope you reconsider and come back someday--you'll be missed around here.

best combination for the acoustic blues. This is thick and slow and sultry... deep southern blues. Zetes, you gonna have Eric looking over his shoulder... someone is gaining on him. heheh...

Great atmosphere... &mdash 02/19/07 - 04:48:20 PM
The mix encapsulated all the 'best bits' of this performance. I love this type of music, with the guitar really cutting through and the mouth organ adding that 'counter conversation' and accompaniment.
Brilliant.

You've made a terrific mix.... &mdash 02/19/07 - 10:34:55 PM
...from some really simple elements here... This really sings... It has it all... bite, feel, the whole enchilada...
Great performances all around, and great recordings, with a really terrific mix...
Can't wait for this CD....

I know I said blues wasn't my style, but this is lovely! The harp in particular is just stunning!
OK, I'm a sucker for harps, what can I say? [ Reply to This ]

Amazing! &mdash 02/22/07 - 01:56:16 PM
Well, you nailed it! This is great. I absolutely love it! I could listen to this kind of music all day.
Not to be a pain, but there seemed to be noticeable hiss at the beginning, which becomes less pronounced as more instruments come in (thereby raising the signal level). Not sure if this should be a concern or not, because the track is simply amazing. [ Reply to This ]
thanks Clark! &mdash 02/22/07 - 09:28:19 PM
well...the hiss you here is the sound i get in my room recording live...it is a combination of the hard drive of the g4 I use to record acoustic stuff, and the air in the room moving....I can usually get rid of that sound...because normally, when i sing it is an overdub and I can just use the signal where may voice is, and fade in and out or eq...but on this particular song, I played the main guitar and sang simulatneously...and i equed a little for the voice...so the hiss at the beginning is there...i think soundsoap or some other program would get rid of that, but i just pretend it is the hiss from and old analog tape recorder...heheheheh...
I will tell you...I have gained infinite respect for all the people who create great acoustic guitar sounds...it is really hard. I find this material really hard to record. I can only imagine what it's going to be like to record the band...my next project!
thanks for taking the time to listen to this again!

I absolutely love performing live with just an acoustic guitar, &mdash 03/09/07 - 10:13:48 AM
...but yes, recording is a whole different world. I have very few recordings where the acoustic guitar sounds good. Any tips?

Wonderful... &mdash 02/23/07 - 10:52:52 AM
Whereas much of modern blues and blues-rock seems to rely on heavy guitars, exaggerated self-indulgent emotional themes or simply take advantage of the "simple" chord structure I'm so happy to hear that Blues is alive and well!! Mellow but engaging with a genuine, crisp "live" sound in addition to the spot-on performances by all musicians (or instruments...couldn't be just you Ziti, right?!), I found myself enjoying Blues once again! Thanks for that. Listened to it a few times, great job Ziti! [ Reply to This ]

a harmonica player...i learned (finally) some slide guitar for these sessions.
You know...if you like this kind of blues, there are an amazing amount really great clips of the old masters on YouTube...I learned and am alearning a lot from studying the performances I've found. Lightnin Hopkins, Son House, Mance Lipscome...cool stuff...and there are a ton of really great amateur acoustic blues players posting performances...wonderful stuff! [ Reply to This ]
Thanks! &mdash 02/23/07 - 11:49:09 AM
I'm really impressed! I had no idea you also sang (shows how much I know...). And thanks for the tip, I'll be happy to look into that. Your performance certainly sounded like it was inspired by the "old masters". [ Reply to This ]
