Description:
A song about wandering. I'm trying out something different, hopefully a little less 80s. :)

Lyrics:
Hijos Perdidos

No sé de donde soy,
ni sé hacia donde voy.
Sigo una estrella que
me llevará hacia ti algun día.
Y aunque en la oscuridad
no se alcance a ver,
sé que voy a llegar
pues tu recuerdo me sirve de guía.

Cielo negro que velas por
tus hijos perdidos
nunca olvides que ellos
te buscan sin desmayar.

Si no llego al hogar,
¿qué se dirá de mi?
¿Quién me refugiará
cuando la noche sea cruenta y fría?
Duro es mi caminar,
sediento es mi sufrir,
triste es mi soledad...
no hay quien se apiade de esta alma mía.

Lost Children

I don't know where I'm from,
don't know where I'm headed.
I'm following a star
that will one day lead me to you.
And even though in the darkness
it becomes hard to see
I know I will arrive
for your memory is my guide.

Black sky, you look after
your lost children,
don't ever forget that they
search for you without dismay.

If I don't make it home,
what will be said of me?
Who will be my refuge,
when the night is cold and cruel?
My journey is difficult,
my suffering is thirst,
my loneliness is bitter...
no one to have mercy on this soul of mine.

strange western? &mdash 02/18/07 - 03:13:58 PM
I really like the sound quality here - perhaps your bad microphone is in fact excellent!

The melody makes me want to sing along. Nice energy.

Your harmony vocals are subtle but very well used.

The well-coordinated instruments with your voice, the accordion and xylophone and the light reverb on the vocals makes me think of German folk though. :D

thank you, thank you, thank you! &mdash 02/18/07 - 03:17:34 PM
I was going for "strange"! It is a bit of a mish mash, but that's how I feel sometimes. Thanks for listening and for your thoughtful comments!

this is HOT &mdash 02/18/07 - 03:19:36 PM
Very addictive song this is, my man. The counter ska-ish rhythm on the ovation makes it instanttly charming to my ears. And I LOVE the accordian accents, which gives the song a very happysad feel. The arrangement is brilliant, keeping the listener in without loosing interest for one second. I had to listen three times... very very addictive. Splendid job, sergio!

great fusion of sounds &mdash 02/18/07 - 03:22:40 PM
Your beautiful deep voice together with dance beats and the more traditional sounds and rhythms just can't be resisted! Sounds great. Lovely well-crafted spanish lyrics.

Gracias &mdash 02/18/07 - 03:29:37 PM
I'm glad you could understand it in the original language. No matter how hard I try, translations always seem to fall a little bit flat. Thanks for listening and commenting!

I love the mix- &mdash 02/19/07 - 06:13:02 PM
of styles and influences. The accordian adds a real unexpected flair. The mix of instruments is keeping me listening for more - It is unconventional, yet perfect. The kind of happy style had me bopping along, until I followed the translation to the end - quite a contrst between the words and music! Excellent and eclectic!

really nice &mdash 02/21/07 - 09:03:43 AM
what a delightfully new piece... I really like the twists and turns in the chords, your instrumentation is almost perfect (even the... acc... accordian, apropos here). I would have used a more marimba-sounding thing, yours sounded too synthy. The words tear at the soul, nice lyrics, great singing. I liked the bar-room ambient sound at the beginning/end, that may want to be boosted more. Nice songwriting.

Drakonis

French quarter latin street corner masterpiece &mdash 02/27/07 - 10:30:29 AM
Latin with a French sensibility. Carefree tragedy. Wonderful accordion, infectious, mischievous, and insidiously biting. The kind of thing that you dance to with a drink in your hand and years later realize what the words really meant. Really nice track.

A great song... &mdash 03/08/07 - 06:47:31 PM
Really, really, great. I absolutely love this. Such a beautiful minor mood, the accordian is fanstastic as well as guitar and penetrating lyrics. Carries all the romance and mystique of Latin America. enjoyed it immensely.
