Lyrics:
IDIOT CHILD

it was all he ever needed
to give him everything he wanted
to keep his head from becoming
a ramshackle of an affair

lawd knows his thoughts seen better days

the ramblings of some idiot child
on the border of being crazed
strength gives way to desperation
before the velvet darkness drags him under

don't be an idiot ... child

don't be an idiot ... child
don't be an idiot

silence only golden if you know how to keep it
love mean shit if ya don't know how to reap it
other wise it like dooms day
it'll come wreck n ruinin your world

don't be no idiot ... child
don't be no idiot ... child

don't be no idiot ... child
don't be an idiot
don't be no idiot ... child
don't be an idiot

child

don't be an idiot ... child
love ain't all happy smiles
it mostly torn n tattered
worn n battered ... fools

don't be an idiot ... child

what a lush &mdash 02/20/07 - 02:57:42 PM
Two of my favourite MJ-ers for the price of one. This track is no less than brilliant! What an energy and soul, what a production. Massimo, Rob, this is my personal 'song of the week' without doubt. Plenty of tension, full of emotion, and yet so clear in the ear. This takes a bunch of pure talent to accomplish. You guys are, you guys did. And all I could do is enjoying it.

Great match! &mdash 02/20/07 - 03:20:50 PM
Another top song from a SIL-VER collab. Rob's aggressive voice (with lyrics/melody to match) over Massimo's instrumental bed are a treat. Excellent production as usual.
Grazie,
Neil

This is what people mean by 'stunning'... &mdash 02/20/07 - 11:09:28 PM
Leaves me shaking my head...

I don't mean any disrespect when I say that I came to this wondering what in the world would be the common ground between rc and Sil-VER...

I don't know if this even REPRESENTS such a thing as "common ground"... it's more like some other ground you both could travel to... in any case, it ends up being good and solid ground...

A good rock melody... good structure... solid lyrics.... and really tight production....

My only possible crit, and it could be on my end, is that it seems pretty hot, and I think I'm picking up distortion that possibly isn't intended... A dB or two back on the level would probably clean that up...

Impressive collab, gentlemen....

Ed

ZOUNDS &mdash 02/21/07 - 09:57:06 AM
massi, i sure love your deep dark sound. i'm trying to figure out if you actually play guitar - sounds SO good, and your percussion is extremely powerful. rc- you get the Throat Lozenge Award - your incredible gutsy vocal delivery blew me away! the effect on your track was perfect - and the entire production is ACES. scary song, gentlemen - WELL DONE! anne

Wow. &mdash 02/21/07 - 10:01:39 AM
Totally unexpected.

I wasn't sure if rc and sil-ver could make it work together, but this really does. It stands precariously on the precipice of disaster but somehow keeps from falling over.

This sounds like what would happen if Mozart took Tom Waits and Trent Reznor and smashed their heads together.

This is really a song that pushes the boundaries - there is such great work going on here at MacJams - but this really stands above in terms of the approach, production, and just all-out weirdness.

Kudos.

Isn't that the singer from Electric Six???

Great vocals, Robert. :O) Great lyrics. I really mean, very very good lyrics.

Nice to finally "meet" Sil-VER. Howd'yadoodlydoo? Brilliant music. And superb production.

All the best.

Twisted nature... &mdash 02/21/07 - 05:07:35 PM
Groovy track... I love all the strange sounds in the beginning and the twisted nature of the whole tune.
Signature Sil-VER.
Powerful singing my rcandrews!
Excellent collab!

Upbeat groov'n song. Massimo, your always there with that catch and you always seem to have a song to offer that plain works. Rob, Nice vocals and great lyrics. It's really cool to hear you experiment with your voice. Fantastic, both of you.

Another to add &mdash 02/22/07 - 07:17:07 AM
to the "Best Of MJ" file.

Outstanding effort! Great music and another ultra-passionate vocal performance from Rob. Very soulful performances from both.

Who is playing the guitar? Those leads are smokin' hot! There's no way you can convince that was done using synths and sequencers.

Really great song. Worth every bit of sunshine I just pumped.

Hi Adam!!
Thanks a lot! : )
The guitar "solo" is a sample... the others guitar made with "software instruments".

Wow! &mdash 02/23/07 - 12:05:49 AM
The vocals really sticks out; superb, but the whole song and its arrangements and mixes are super!!! I get this "early" Deep Purple feel - not to suggest you sound anything like it. This got to be one of the best collabs I've hard. And the bass is a killer. / Mikki

Heavy, Heavy &mdash 02/25/07 - 01:54:07 AM
I really liked the musical break after the first chorus, but didn't hear it again. It would have been nice to hear that further developed.
The intro was very also very interesting.

I also liked the "harmonic" sounding notes after "idiot child" in the chorus.

Solid... &mdash 02/25/07 - 04:40:41 PM
I don't generally listen to this kind of music and I wouldn't have a clue as to where to begin writing it, but I am really impressed with the powerful sound that you sustain throughout. It's as good (and probably better) as anything I've heard in this genre. I wish the lyrics were more easily understood, though. I don't know if you've read "Antigone" by Sophocles, but the idea of love being the ultimate victor/destroyer is part of the message I get from your lyrics. It's a universal theme. I just wish it were more out-front of your instrumentals. Glad I heard your piece.

Very Original &mdash 02/26/07 - 06:08:58 PM
Like this a lot. Its good to hear a song on here (lots of electronica). The solos are really good. I like the fact this song can't really be dated or catogorized.

Love the phonetone opening &mdash 02/26/07 - 06:23:49 PM
the rest just gets better and better. Great production, lyrics, vox, playing, imagination. Dig the Floyd vocal treatment on the chorus. Cool track - excellent work from both of you guys.

great &mdash 08/29/07 - 09:11:58 AM
Vocals sound like the guy from Electric Six mixed with Pink Floyd. In a good way! Great song, beautifully produced. better than most stuff in my cd collection. Mind you, I like Girls Aloud, so that doesn't count for much.
