=> By paddler: Ways Of Living - w/ Cori Ander

=> By rschletty: Near the River (w/Cori Ander)

=> By Jim Bouchard: what happened to him

Note: A couple of monts ago MacJammer slide was working on a song based on this track. In the process he contacted Jim requesting him to add slide guitar to it (and this is what we hear in The version here). Then Christmas came and I got many other things to think of, but now when I take it up again I can't get in touch with slide! He is a fellow countryman to me and we had developed a kind of friendship during his short stay here. Now he has dis-plugged all his songs and I don't know where he is. Strangely enough, two of the lines in slide's song is:

'I had a dream, about this friend of mine'
and
'no one knows, what happened to him'

If you happen to know anything about slide's doings please tell. I keep searching.

I think you will get a few collaborations for sure out of this, although I must say it sounds great as is! I love the sound you're getting, and the music is conjuring up all kinds of images, including of cowboys and the West!

Wowwww! Very strong and it knows exactly where it's going. I love the sheer build up of strings one on top of the other, and with all of them still ringing out clearly. The occasional unexpected pitch makes it a real treat.

You really understand how to get the very best out of a guitar.

Sounded familiar... &mdash 02/21/07 - 06:42:04 PM
and then I realized it's the same music that was sent to me by MacJammer "slide" for a song he wanted some lap steel guitar on, except it had vocals and drums and all the trappings. It was called "No One Knows" and had a gorgeous slide vocal on it. I worked on it a whole bunch and sent my track back to him a while ago and then never heard anything. Perhaps you can clear up this mystery for me. I've already jammed to this already, and so it's sort of odd to hear it now.

Wow I didn't know that you were involved (that was good idea)! And yes, he had made some beautiful vocals to this tune.

Well, I have been trying to get in contact with Slide without success. We had a couple of collabs going on before Christmas. Half made. Then everything went too busy for me. Now when I wanted to reach him, I was sad to see that he had dis-plugged everything from his page except for the photo.

But I keep searching for him.

Johannes, I love the feel of this.... &mdash 02/21/07 - 10:28:59 PM
Once again using that AG Stomp to maximum effect... And using a very steel-string-ish attack and approach with the nylon string guitar...

I always love your improvs, and this one goes straight to the iPod...

Hope any collabs leave the beauty and drive of this intact...

Ed

Is it your thumb I hear making that subtle locomotive groove? Did you do that while playing the rhythm track?

This tune has a joyful happy feeling.

It would be nice to hear some vocals on top of this... Will be interesting to see who and what will come out of a collab:)

I'm listening on my frined buttbox, and the quality in the sound that you get from your setup can't help but to upgrade things here... - Very diggable rythmic stuff you're producing lately. I've really been enjoying this side of you! This was short, but truly sweet, Johannes. However, it doesn't seem to matter the length of your pieces, I'm always left starring into pleasantville w/ a blank feel about my face, while being a bit sorry that it's over. So as always, I took one to go - Thanks! Macca

So much room here for creating a story, melody, and song from the heart.

I like Clark's idea above with the western-cowboy theme. With all of the talent in here, I know we will enjoy some results, thanks.

My original copy has been getting quite a workout. I even tried to do some additions to it, but I'm afraid my muse seems to be on holidays at the moment and I got nowhere.
This is a really beautiful piece (as are all of yours of course), and I am really looking forward to seeing what people make from it.
H, D and L were always my favourites too as a kid.

you get BOMBED more than I do!!! There must be someone out there that just hates guitar music...

I actually picked up ruby and noodled along and what fun....

of course, you play beautifully, always full of heart and sound...i truly appreciate your recordings now that I have been recording so much acoustic guitar myself. You have achieved and you maintain a very high level of recorded sound...always a joy.

I was thinking of you last night as i watched the wonderful Peter Janson perform, and Ed and I both told him about your wonderful guitar
playing...

(I made up for the bombers...)

warmest hello

Hard to say that &mdash 02/28/07 - 10:41:50 AM
This piece needs anything. Extremely pleaseant listen; great thumb! I can see why anyone would work hard to collaborate with you. The texture and beauty of the recording would be hard to match and preserve with other tracks; but I get the feeling of a soundtrack for a Tex-Mex western, which may not need much dialogue. Some hand made acoustic percussion maybe?
