Keywords:
Jazz (373)Rock (1079)Fusion (95)Motown (4)Soundfont (2)Piano (596)
Description:
Came up with this while exploring the rhythms in the Rhythm Jam Pack. Started with a heavier Motown beat and developed the chord sequence, then as I was adding bass and trying to add some variety to the drums I came across "Motown Mixed Drums". The tenor sax uses a sound font, I'd love to hear a real live sax player have a go.

Hardware:
Clavinova

Software:
GarageBand, "Tenor Sax 1" from SoundFonts.it

A good piece of Jazz Fusion.... &mdash 02/23/07 - 01:53:50 PM
I agree with you. The saxaphone would be great live.

Still. Without the real live sax it's still a great sounding mix.

Paul.

Thanks Paul &mdash 02/23/07 - 04:39:06 PM
I'm glad you enjoyed the piece as is. Live is preferred but I think the soundfont is better than the GB sax. Thanks for listening and commenting!!

Would be an ideal track to add wukka guitar and some acid synth parts to.Its the most convincing virtual sax sound ive ever heard,to date

Guitar solos sound nice. I'm learning about how to get better sounds out of the virtual instruments, wind and brass are very difficult when using the percussive attack of the piano to play the notes. Thanks for the comments.

Nice relaxed feel ... &mdash 02/25/07 - 03:41:16 PM
... an enjoyable listen ... all I needed was a "crantini" to go with it ...

I still can't get it to play here, but I have it on my machine :)
"Crantini"? Sounds like a summer drink to me. Thanks again.

...love that old Motown sound! You know, you might be able to get our own Dadai (Jack Miller) to play some sax over this groove....

Love it. Nice almost live sound...

Be well!

This by far is my favourite piece by you. The song structure from start to finish is exceptional. Your playing on this is great and the groove and phrasing of your changes really hit home for me.

Sweet &mdash 03/13/07 - 04:37:12 PM
I like the feel to this. Maybe some "xylophone" on the right would help balance the saxaphone. Overall, Very smooth....Going in "favorites"

Thanks for sharing.

Nice piece!!!! Just right...I wouldnt change a thing...Do you play live???
Soundfont sax does sound better than GB sax. I like to use horns in my songs...and sometimes Gb doesnt workout all that well.

Live &mdash 03/17/07 - 08:37:22 PM
Yes I play each track live except for the drum loops. I am a real klutz with the pencil tool, so I find it easier to practice a line and rerecord. I did use some timing fixes during production. Thanks for listening and commenting!!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I did go through and make sure the legato notes were sequential like they would be on a real sax and not overlapping like I do for piano legato.

Mr. Piano &mdash 03/22/07 - 08:48:59 PM
This is a really nicely mixed tune. The touch on the synth-sax is smooth. I like PickQuick's suggestion for a vibraphone/xylophone. At the start of the tune the piano seemed a little strong, but it blended into the mix well as the song went on.

Solid,
-g

I'm finding some truly fine musicians, today...

A live sax would be sweet...but you do a nice job with the SoundFonts.

Enjoyed this very much.

Very nice &mdash 04/30/07 - 10:29:28 PM
A good mellow vibe to this one. Makes me want to have a glass of wine and draw something to it. The sax sounded really good for a virtual instument, but a real sax would really bring this piece up a notch. A great piece of music here. And thank you for commenting on my song visions it means alot. Best regards-Nikos

Really feeling this one. Man if you could play sax, you certainly have the right feel in the right places. Getting a little Philadelphia sound in here too.

I may get my sax out on this one too.
