Keywords:
Inclement weather (1)menstrual cycle (1)
Description:
I wrote this song around Christmas of 2006.
I just didnt know what to do with the melody.
Well along comes Alan(apb) and wammo!!!
Alan took the song and adding lyrics and melody. All I had to do was add some backing vocals and answer Alan at the end of the song.

Lyrics:
I saw her standing by herself,
In a sheepskin sweater,
I asked if she had heard some news,
Of inclement weather.

And she said ..
"Mind your business ..
go away-
I got the painters in today,
So I don't need your wise remarks,
You 'ain't so clever"

I sensed it was time to retreat,
Back a bit- 'bout 50ft,
From there I thought that I was safe,
From inclement weather,
But it seems that I was wrong.

She'ld hit the jukebox on the way,
It stopped for a bit, then began to play,
An' old familar kinda tune,
'Bout inclement weather
An' I found myself in a dance.

La, la, la, la, la ...

This was a "kicky" little beat then ... &mdash 02/24/07 - 01:45:45 PM
... had that sort of 60's feel to it .... I could almost see the "mods" on scooters lining up ready for the 2nd coming of the British Invasion ... I like the whistling and footsteps. Reminds me of an band I used to listen to ... but for the life of me ... I cant place it .... vocals were great - guitar was fab ... my only little nit was in some of the panning .... it felt a little heavy and made me tilt my head in a few places ....

How could you .. &mdash 02/24/07 - 02:40:34 PM
... leave me like that! ;o) I had heaps of fun doing
this collab with Steve: firstly quite flattered to even
attempt to fill the lead vocal position .. but I gave it
a whirl and pleased I did .. Steve had this interesting intentional gap in the middle which intrigued me .. and the entire 'plot/narrative style lyrics' unfolded from the idea used to fill that gap, after I'd found a little singing melody I could just about hit :o)

Loved your additions since I last heard it Steve .. pretty darn high and difficult harmonies .. and the ending answers to my distress calls, was just sublime.

Thanks Ego &mdash 02/25/07 - 03:08:57 PM
..as you know I don't have the greatest of confidence in
my singing - Steve started with wanting a singing melody,
and that's where I came in. I wasn't sure if he would
even use my voice or take the singing melody and use it himself. Glad you enjoyed it, it was fun.

Steve, I'm liking it. I'm very impressed with the whole thing - funny lyrics, fantastic voices, expert whistling, and contemplative ending, ha ha. I'll see you at the other end of my research paper!

the production work on this is really mostly Steve.. I did
my vocals and the middle bit and Steve did all the rest and
a fine job he did too.

Glad you like the odd subject matter for the song. We dared
and so far we live to tell the tale .. hahaha ;o)

nice song... great lyrics nice singing your voice is very nice... love the whistling nervously on your way out the door! funny song!!!

Thanks Jojo ... &mdash 02/26/07 - 02:15:14 PM
.. for your appreciation .. much .. er, appreciated :o)
and to answer your question: not so much "due" as already come .. that's at least what that expression means- why so grumpy? I know .. it's messed up ..hahaha, and btw that's not me
going out the door (not in those shoes anyway), I'm
whistling 50ft away in the bar..as she approaches (hitting
the jukebox on the way) I tried to put across the events
in the lyrics in sounds, then state them kind-of after the fact... I'm not making any sense ... hmmm, back to the drawing board .. hahaha.

Well done &mdash 03/02/07 - 07:23:36 AM
Really nice! The way the instruments are panned to one side or the other sounds a little odd in headphones, especially at the start, but it doesn't detract from the song, which is bouncy and enjoyable. Very nice vocals and guitars. Amusing banter at the end too. Great stuff.

Thanks very much Craft... &mdash 03/11/07 - 06:07:16 AM
.. with hindsight it might have been better to bring the
tune down a semitone or so, to help me at least not so
sound quite so strained in places .. but I managed to get
away with it, I think :o)

Like the contrast... &mdash 03/04/07 - 03:43:43 PM
...in guitar sounds. Works really well with the music. The chorus is just right.
"Inclement weather", indeed. Need to dress for the occasion.
Music and lyrics make for a real nice piece.
