Description:
Well - this is my shot at Cori Ander's
Huey Dewey & Lewey

I guess there's a few versions now! As I've said in the past,I think his tunes stand up perfectly well on their own so hopefully I haven't 'scribbled' all over it too much..

Lyrics:
Ways Of Living

Never see you
Only hear you
Do you feel like
You were born to
Discover new ways of living?

In the darkness
Of the evening
Do you ever
Feel like reaching
Into your very soul and smiling

Climbed only half the way
Tryin to make it to the top of the chain
Guess I'll save it for another day
Whatever forever - forever can wait
Seems like we've just made it all -
But living
Seems like we've made it all -
But living

Never see you
Only hear you
Do you feel like
You were born to
Discover new ways of living?

Across the ocean I'm calling to you
Through the forest I am burning
Can you tell me what you want me to do
If I could find it I would give it to you
All the time I just find I am dying to love you

Thanks Lena &mdash 02/26/07 - 07:38:18 PM
I've got one CD available from www.cafepress.com/rgpaddler

When writing lyrics I tend to just write the first thing that comes to mind - hopefully a general theme comes out of that.We all have bad days and good ones and some songs are good for some days and not for others. One of my favourite songs for example is 'Into my Arms' my Nick Cave & the bad seeds - but sometimes its just too depressing to listen to - so I'd probably turn it off and other days its really uplifting, and I turn it up.Its the same recording but your mood/circumstance is different.Somedays I can't stop whistling 'Ain't got no -' by Nina Simone!

NIce job &mdash 02/26/07 - 09:34:11 AM
I just listened to "Huey Dewey and Lewey" yesterday, fine piece by itself. Here you have really added a lot without drowning out what was there. Vocals sound really good, like they were originally there. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't done many collaborations, but hopefully I'm only highlighting the themes that were already there but not so obvious to the ear

Another great mix... &mdash 02/26/07 - 12:11:44 PM
Another great mix of vocals, lyrics and backing.

This reminded me of American West Coast music of the 70's/80's and a touch of Fleetwood Mac. Can I explain this in detail? It's just a few 'feelings' that the song version evokes in my minds eye.

Well done Richard (and Cory for the original idea/music).

Paul.

The guitars and vocals are mixed extraordinarily well. It's a good song too. Great harmonies, I love harmonies. I want to play big Conga Drums to this. Great right hand on the guitar.

That's really GREAT that You have a CD out there !!!!!!!! I'm sure they'll be coming one by one.. : )

Congas would be fantasic to this...dreaming..:) I think this song is so GOOD because You & Cori melt together SO WELL & really become one - fantastic work . I don't recognize Your voice 100% but it could be some techniq-thing perhaps. Imagine adding congas like Joe B said - wow . Just love them

Nina Simone ! Great !! I'll have to look into NC - I haven't afforded to buy records for ages:( they're expensive in Sweden . Thanks again!

AGAIN! &mdash 02/27/07 - 01:30:02 PM
Paddler, you're setting the bar very high; your output, musical range and quality are astonishing. This is a really sensitive use of the original track; great job!

I hope so - it seems a bit of a cheek taking someone else idea and meddling around with it.Still I guess that makes it more of a jam

THANK YOU &mdash 02/28/07 - 10:39:51 AM
Wow, thank you for this great surprize!
Man how I dig your song. Beautiful!

One aspect that I dig is how you have caught on to the cool moods, no stress here, it just floats on calm an nice but still really moving .. like a nice car floating soft and fast on a highway.

I'm truely proud to be part of this, the second, paddler/curry collab.

Lovely &mdash 03/01/07 - 02:20:13 PM
This is a super collab and meshes wonderfully together. Your voice suits Cori's guitar perfectly. I heard the original first, which was excellent as it was, but this is by far the best vocal 'layer' I've heard the modesty in your voice marries to the acoustic. well done.

Took me a while... &mdash 03/20/07 - 07:39:22 PM
but i finally got to listening to this gem. This stands as my preferred version. Lyrics, vocals, guitar, (and keyboard?) perfectly melded together... as if planned from the start. Again, I want to say how impressive your music is. cheers.

Once again... &mdash 06/06/07 - 09:06:39 PM
I like the doubled vocals... and I really like the singing on this one...

I also like how you picked the melody from Cori's playing, and didn't embellish that too much... You let what was coolest and best from his playing come through...
