Description:
I worked on the vocal mix on this version. Some felt the vocals were to upfront, which I agree with, so I set them back a bit.

Hardware:
G4 PowerBook and aTacoma Guitar.

Software:
GarageBand

Well performed, good sound. Perhaps a simple bass line?
But what do I know....

Thanks Peeg, Ya Know... maybe a bass line. I've yet to put one in any of my songs. That 's the next step I must take!

Maybe... &mdash 08/05/04 - 05:49:43 PM
...the backing could've been more ambitious. There's nice
vocal movement and I was left wanting to hear more
accompanyment. There's so much space to build this one
up.

I would've done the production much differently. The
voice has a soft quality... i'm not so sure a stomping kick
drum and super tight snare were the best pick.

But like i said, nice vocals... I would have done the
production much differently.

Let's see how you grow.

Interesting thoughts dchapman! Now you've peeked my interest on how someone else would have put this songs together. I am very open to variation, and someone else's vision would be really neat to see (Hear)!

Your vocals are getting better and better, your increasing
confidence shows!

Better mix this time! Your voice has a very good quality in
general, well in-tune, and I like your subtle nuances and
phrasing.

Good guitar and you vary the drum track nicely, especially
in the second half of the track.

The only aspect of this song which I personally could find
slight improvement with is that the chord progression
seems a bit repetitive. You've got a good set of chord
changes but I wish there was just a bit more variety to
them.

But maybe you were going for sort of a trance-like quality
in this song. It's almost a mantra.

In any case, you've produced a good song here!

I agree that your vocals are quite nice. Sweetness, plaintiveness, sincerity,
immediacy. What I like to call "front and center."

Cameron, thank you very much for listening and your thoughts. They are much appreciated. I will give the chord progession some thought.

Your tone &mdash 08/07/04 - 08:45:32 PM
is very sweet. But like me, I'm not sure you're always
hitting the notes, and your time appears to be off at
times. Tightening the time and the pitch will make an
unbelievable difference in the level of your music,
BECAUSE your tone is so sweet already, and your song is
engaging. The devil's in the details and they really make
the difference, especially in music production.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions mcsweb. I know like anything else in the creative process, it is continuous learning. I am definitely a novice since I've only produced 3 GarabeBand songs. I will definitely take your thoughts into consideration on my next one and hopefullly I will do better!
