Description:
'It was a lazy summer afternoon in school and Billy leaned on his elbow looking out at the far away shimmering hills as the teacher droned on - somwhere far in the distance he could see a tiny shadow dancing across the hills - it looked like a dog,a black dog - but why was it running so quickly and why was it heading towards the cover of the trees? The sun gradually sank down below the horizon and as the bell rang for hometime Billy felt compelled to follow...'

This is a small section of 'Brighton Dark Fantastic' which you might find on my profile. It's too large a file to upload here - though I've tried,in vain.

Ending is truncated &mdash 03/01/07 - 09:26:51 AM
Nice beat-based ambient synth track, but it cuts off at the end. I always build in a few measures of silence to make sure reverb tails, etc., get their due. Maybe it is just my computer. Consider remixing the ending and resubmitting.

Thanks tobin &mdash 03/03/07 - 09:22:41 PM
Thanks Tobin - ever the joker. No - youre right about the ending - it's because its leading into the next part of the song, but I guess I should have edited it properly, suppose its a bit like the ballerina when she comes to the end of the dance, and has to stand on one leg for a moment. Not that I'm a ballerina,or have ever had any desires to wear a tutu, but I understand what you mean.((:

Intriguing story &mdash 03/01/07 - 05:39:55 PM
Really nice mood setter ... and the mood it projects is a tempered optimism which is reinforced very nicely in the repeating theme.

Thank you - I thought it sounded kind of German for some reason when I first listened back to it,dont know why.Glad if it sounds hopeful, the track its a part of goes through pretty much all the emotions - this part represents a kind of running away from everything for pastures new.Something I'm trying to avoid doing yet again right now!

Wow &mdash 03/02/07 - 02:54:03 AM
At the first intro I didn't think it was for me .. but then, when the groove started I was caught! This is great. Very unususal chord progressions, yet not "far-fetched" or "constructed" .. hmm, I'm searching for the right English word here .. hope you can read what I mean..

This is a great composition. Dig it a lot!

Thanks Cori &mdash 03/03/07 - 09:31:37 PM
Yeah music is weird.I've tried to play this tune on the piano sometimes and can never remember where the chords go to.It was another random discovery of chords linking together that is I guess how alot of people write tunes - just go off somwhere and see if you can get back to where you began somehow.!! Glad you listened beyond the intro!

what a surprise &mdash 03/03/07 - 06:09:07 PM
when the backing tracks kick in. Loved it. Wonderful story line, as it fits the music like a glove. Nice production chops as well.

Thank you &mdash 03/03/07 - 09:34:38 PM
Yes - I think its because the piano is fairly quiet - if you turn it up to hear the piano its a bit of a contrast when the wall of noise kicks in.Glad it got your attention, anyway! (:

Stirring... &mdash 03/04/07 - 07:49:02 PM
...powerful, muscular and a bit martial too. To me this track has hints of seventies' Krautrock and Eurodisco - in other words I like it a lot!
