Description:
I loved Drakonis' "Ember" from the first moment I heard it, and I am pleased that he has unselfishly shared this with so many! and so many different creative versions have evolved! This is my contribution... so far! Thanks Eduard! Steve

So glad to see this one! &mdash 02/28/07 - 03:29:19 PM
I've been waiting for you to open the closet and let this one out, you've been slaving away on it for awhile, and it shows! Steve, your deliciously dissonant, weirdly spooky version of Ember is really brilliant! This really feels like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock thriller, and a wonderfully unique vision of Ember. Of course, there are little fixes needed in there, like the strange occasional clicks between phrases of the low flute, but other things are subtly excellently placed, like the occasional dissonances in the piano, and the fact that the "shredder" shows up in the beginning and goes away... only to frightfully return a couple more times later, and the overall super pacing. Thank you for deciding it is "done enough" for now... let's see what others think :-)
ttfn,
Drakonis

(PS - LOVE your garden technoids, that is very funny! Do you really own all those garden gnomes, or did they just congregate?)

Thanks Eduard &mdash 02/28/07 - 06:05:46 PM
I really did enjoy working on this and being a singer rather than a musician I feel that I learned a lot from Ember that will help me with my own songs.

The Dragons eyes are sharp - they are indeed Garden Gnomes and not Technoids. They were photographed in the village where the film Calendar Girls was made In Yorkshire England (Roxylee tells me off for saying UK and reminds me that I'm English:-))
Thanks Eduard

Telling you off, Steve? Never! :-) I love what you did with Drak's Ember. Really mysterious and dissonant, yet melodious at the same time. you have the knack of taking other's songs and making them your own, a mark of a great musician.

I love this place!

Hi Roxi &mdash 03/11/07 - 01:22:00 AM
Thanks for your comments.
I really enjoyed working on this and I didn't want to lose too much of the original by Eduard. This is what is facinating about Ember everyone who has done a collab have all added their won individuality to the piece.
Come on Roxylee - we are waiting for your version;-)
Best Regards
Steve

Scary &mdash 02/28/07 - 05:27:25 PM
Bit of a John Carpenter feel - I could imagine this playing in Halloween or The Fog. Fantastically atmospheric gothick version of Drak's ditty. Good to see the Ember franchise still has legs!

Hi Fredrik! &mdash 03/11/07 - 01:33:06 AM
Ah! the gnomes...That is not an easy one to answer Fredrik, but I'll try...well if you take a look at Drakonis site and listen to his Dance of the Technoids, and watch the video/movie that he has produced, you will see that the gnomes are nothing like Technoids really...but they would like to be able to dance like them!
Best Regards
Steve
Oh, Thanks for your comments Fredrik:-)

Hey Steve - I'm not familiar with Draks original, but this is a great piece of dark work - edgy and discordant. The mix sounds great in my headphones, but alos quite un-nerving .. I don't want to look behind but ...... agghhh!!!

Spooked

Nicely done, interesting dissonances. Don't know the original so no comparisons but this stands well by itself..

Cheers

Thanks Craft! &mdash 03/11/07 - 01:44:27 AM
Thanks for your valued comments, It does sound a bit spooky! It just turned out that way - that is what is so great about the original - it opens up all new avenues of creativity. I have a couple of others on the go that sound different again.
Thanks

Best Regards
Steve

Luv the Gnomes .... &mdash 03/09/07 - 12:37:46 PM
... yes ... definitely the "Creepiest" of the embers ... (with rhe exception of RSchletty's strange "Tongues on Ember") .... but this gave me goosebumps just the same .... long live the Embers ... may their flame burn bright!

Hi Alannah! &mdash 03/11/07 - 01:50:55 AM
Thanks for your comments, and the gnomes love you too;-)
I think it sounds creepy because of all the odd sounding chords etc. To be honest I hadn't a clue how it was going to turn out at first, but it really was such a great learning curve for me, especially not being a musician. It really has helped me with my own compositions too.
Thanks Again Alannah
Best Regards

nice &mdash 04/14/07 - 01:00:03 AM
i really love this re-mix. very pretty and original. i think you're "not being a musician" is what makes it so unique. i love the piano chords, and the little clicking sound. if you'd be interested in re-mixing one of my songs, i'd love to hear it. really great job.
