Description:
A seasonal song, for Halloween, El día de los Muertos, or anytime during Autumn. To remember and celebrate our departed loved ones.
Lyrics:
October, OctoberWarmer and colder
Summer is over
But she'll keep the Sun
In her big, black cauldron
Tis the season
For death and the night
So say the spell
Make the ghosts tell
Circle the stones
Dance with the bones
Follow the shadows
On All Hallow's Eve
Happily we grieve
Drink to the Dead
In October
When the Sun has just gone down
It is time
To sing the rhyme
Bring them out
Orange glowing embers light our way to November
Waltz through the stones (Through the stones)
Dance with the bones (With the bones)
Death is romancing (It's romance!)
A nightmare perchancing (Spin...)
Spin like the leaves (...like the leaves)
Drink to our friends
Who met their ends
When the Moon glows in the sky
Do they fly?
In the sky...
Circle the stones (Circle the stones)
Dance with the bones (Dance with the bones)
Take Death's hand (Take his hand)
To Underland (Underland)
Raise up a glass (First do no harm)
To souls who have passed (Now work the charm)
Drink to the Dead (Make a toast)
Drink to the Dead (To the ghost)
In October, in October
Ooh, October...

Oops, you reposted this and deleted the old one... so I have re-faved this new one... doesn't sound like you changed it? As I said in the prior comment, I really like your Danny Elfman-esque style here, sounds like it's right out of "Nightmare before Christmas". Nice lyrics & singing. And is that your artwork? A very talented lady!

I got all confused about the creative commons thing and when i did a search, realized i couldn't change it but must delete then replace it... sorry about that, i'm kind of embarrassed.
Thank you for still thinking of it, though :) And thanks for re-faving it, heh.
Yeah, i drew the icon for the song, it was fun. I like doing that kind of stuff.
:D

Kate Bush ???? I liked the whispery quality of this .... a refreshing uniqueness to your style. My only nit ... is there were a couple of spots where it sounded like a pop screen might have been in order .... felt the whoosh and boom! Nice job on all the vocal layerings.

Heh, if you mention Kate Bush it just goes to my head, i love her!
And you have good ears - i've been talked to about pop filters, and i finally got one last year, well, only a few months ago! Woo!
But i recorded this song a couple of years ago and didn't have a pop filter then. I've never changed any original recording of the song, but i have altered some of the settings (especially the drums) and i've clipped out some of the vocals.
Thank you for your feedback :)

really like this one: opening chords are beautiful an draw you right in, vocal melody is light and airy but solid (like the off kilter backup harmonies). really nice use of percussion too, very subtle. what is that sound? i really like your stuff a bunch; i can appreciate the focus on feeling as opposed to technique. great job.
Scott Carmichael
interesting and compelling... the subtle harmonies that you introduce are great... etherial and mysterious indeed... melodies that haunt again... I love Kate Bush... I'm thinking you have some of her influence...
production is about the choices that we make in the process... I have one small nit-pick.. I love the chord changes along with the vocal... I think this carries the song... I would remove the drums... they are wooden and anchored in time... while the song floats and drifts in and out of reality... I would want the marimaba-like percussions to be wet and behind the whole sound scape... that's just me...
I think that your voice is the star here, and I would want to frame it as such
I still love it

Just Fabulous! I wallow in the textures. Wonderful music as always, it is complicated and well thought out.

Beautiful voice.

one of my absolute most favorite songs i've come across. i've known this piece for as long as i've been posting music online. it holds very special meaning for me, as you know, slumbs. i'm always so happy when this one creeps up on my playlist, unexpectedly... usually while i'm doing the dishes. i always stop what i'm doing and just fall into it.
thank you for this one! great great stuff!

Alannah has called you out! Glad to hear you, Kate! Great stuff you're doing here, as you always do!

You are so very original and stylistically interesting... The delivery here is matched by your gothic (and I use that word in the old sense) vocals. What a wonderful song!
