don't have to understand it to like it &mdash 03/04/07 - 01:58:33 PM
i don't have to understand to know that i like it.

here's a case in point. i like the intro, and it builds up a great beat. but i have no idea what's it's saying. nor what the picture is.

but that's OK - i like it!

thanks

what *is* that pic? a desktop demo of an ion drive? or some paraphernalia?

The picture &mdash 03/04/07 - 05:23:43 PM
is of a running pulse jet engine test I found on google searching with the word "pulse". As for the lyrics - I'll post them when I get home. Thanks for commenting.

Great Wall of Sound &mdash 03/04/07 - 05:16:38 PM
Got instantly caught by the intro. Great building up. Love the energy and the thickness of sound. Very interesting mix of influences. Great job, Bud. Downloaded.

I can't seem to avoid the wall &mdash 03/04/07 - 06:28:49 PM
hard as I try - it just seems to build itself. I'm sure it's something to do with insecurity. That - and all the drugs I took when I was younger. Thanks for your comments.

double the pleasure... &mdash 03/04/07 - 06:13:03 PM
double the fun! it's like two..two songs in one. man you really got a rolling on the heavy section. very cool and such diversity.

Thanks Vic - &mdash 03/04/07 - 06:33:48 PM
these days as usual I just sit down and go. Not sure where I'm headed but I love going down the rabbit hole. The heavy bass was inspired by some of the stuff Egobandit's been up to. Wish I had the patience (and ability) to develop the kind of intricate songcraft you manage to out out.

Neat... &mdash 03/04/07 - 09:32:31 PM
...the second half reminds me, probably falsely 'cause it's been a while, of a heavier version of 'King's Led Hat'....

Really clicks along... Or stomps along... Or kicks, or pulses, along...

Thanks Ed &mdash 03/05/07 - 07:43:01 AM

IN THE ACT &mdash 03/05/07 - 02:25:27 PM
Red Handed New Stuff - great Layed Build and Insistence.

Could stand for the Vocal to have the same bite as the guitars, same level of punch.

Small matter, however in this House of Steel.

Good point on the vocals - &mdash 03/05/07 - 04:23:09 PM
they could be more staccatto with bite. Thanks for the input.

bandit &mdash 03/07/07 - 12:59:48 AM
Bud,
Great tune, Man. You one-upper Egobandit on this one. Totally hear the reference, having listened to every massively overdriven bass ditty he's done. Great build up to the -- what should I call it-- the heaviest shit I've heard in a while, that's it. The guitar is killer. The longer I listen the better it gets. Downloadin' it for pumpin some iron tomorrow at the gym. REALLY great.

The bandit still has the heaviest &mdash 03/07/07 - 11:32:59 AM
game in town - I just had fun playin it. Glad you enjoyed it so much. My guitar playing is very limited - all I can do is play with more or less intensity - and sometimes I get lucky. Guess this was one of those times. Thanks for the props.

Stunner &mdash 03/07/07 - 01:29:17 PM
Lyrics are killer, THis is driving force pulsating magma, sharks with frickin laser beams on thier heads.
The build up is explosive then the drive of the bass and guitar kicks in and I dont know if the b surfers took over your page or eno was driving a Mac truck through my studio cool as all hell or Heck, greatness.

[ Reply to This ]
I love the image of Eno driving a Mack &mdash 03/07/07 - 01:35:11 PM
truck - and any b surfer ref is much appreciated. But really you've raised the bar around here for sonic mayhem - I'm just tryin to keep up.

Beyond "interesting"... &mdash 03/11/07 - 10:00:10 AM
...beyond the solar system.
"Please hang up and try again..."
I HATE that message!!!!
WOW!!! Serious bass! And here comes the guitar!
Ain't this somethin'...
Really enjoyed this, Bud

ROBOT RAWK &mdash 03/14/07 - 08:09:21 PM
total trip this, and i went thru several moods while listening with my mouth as well as ears open wide. the loose & delicate pseudo structure at beginning had me savoring the horns imitating an Illinois Central Pacific train, and i thought the piece was finished - only to be swept away by the Robot 2-Step. that crashing, slamming, driving stuff is waaaay good! i was transformed into something wanting to scream "CHUCK!" repeatedly. this is a wonderful listen, bud. i, too, am now inspired to pump iron. ;)
seriously - it's GREAT. anne

Anne - your comments are really &mdash 03/14/07 - 10:24:10 PM
appreciated. I'm a fan of your work and I'm really happy you dropped by. This tune was a lot of fun - I had no idea where it was goiing when I started and it took me on a trip I never could have planned. We're really lucky to live with technology that is so liberating - and easy to use too.

Listening as I write &mdash 03/14/07 - 10:26:11 PM
Atmospheric intro err... a flat 5th I think did you know that interval was banned in medieval times for being 'of the devil?' - like the way the drums fade in - is pretty heavy man - Great vocals hardcore, kind of a prodigy spaceage feel - would be great track for a scifi cartoon.Like the way it breaks down to bass during the verse, wow and you keep the intro chords going through the song too.Love it!

Thanks for the play by play &mdash 03/15/07 - 10:18:06 PM
I like to do that too. Nice tidbit about the devil's music - I kinda like the idea. Good ears on the chord through. It's on a three count against the 4/4 of the drums. When the drums first come in I shifted it to 4/4 for a few bars to lock the groove - then I slipped it back to the three. I don't know a damn thing about music theory - but I know what I like. Glad you liked it too.

Awesome &mdash 04/08/07 - 01:21:17 PM
This is an awesome sweeping soundscape. I wish my songs were this textural. What did you use to get that distortion on your bass? Nice use of the 3/4 and 4/4 time overlaps.
