Description:
this is a better version of the song i posted yesterday

Lyrics:
you know there was a time i loved my mother
you know there was a time i admired my dad
something went wrong
slowly that was all gone
oh there was a time i don't remember
there are so many graves that i've never seen
oh and then something went wrong
tore out the heart
it didn't take that long
baby you don't understand
what happens to a family when they loose their man
just like ships at sea
baby thats what happened to me
i remember the time i started to wander
you tell me in a dream
I'm a little lost boy
how do i explain i don't hurt any longer
somewhere along the way i discovered
the world of joy
nothings gone wrong
as far as i can see
so come back to bed
put your arms around me
sometimes when i cry
it helps to remind me
a long time ago you meant everything to me
baby do you understand
what happens to a family when they loose their man
we are just like ships at sea
baby thats what happened to me
i say to myself
when did i serender
i say to myself what do i regret
there was a time i loved my mother
there was a time

touching song &mdash 03/04/07 - 05:28:37 PM
Great lyrics that touch deep. Well structured too. Really nice music bed and melody.

I'd prefer hearing the vocals much more dry and upfront in the mix, particularly in the verses and keeping it to a single voice (especially in the first verse). I do like the build and harmonies used in the chorus.

Your vocal deliver is particularly good in the "I remember the time..." verse after the first chorus. You have a strong presence there that suits the rising energy of the song.

Totally New, Larger Sound Stage.

Great Clarity and Separations:

Build and Dynamics - HUGE

Is this a ReMix or ReTrx? Sounds like you mixed it at a new Studio!

Lovely tribute... &mdash 03/05/07 - 01:57:28 PM
My mom passed away in November so this really hit home. Sensitive lyric content delivered with conviction over a nicely arranged and recorded sound bed. many thanks for calling my attention to this.

Be well!

That's what I'm talkin' about!!! &mdash 03/05/07 - 02:44:41 PM
Nothing distracts me from the emotion impact... much much better mix, and now I can get all the way to the song... and the song is definately worth it... bringing the vocal to a more present position also make the vocal so much more expressive

nice job

As always &mdash 03/09/07 - 03:38:04 PM
The lyrics are really great. I didn't listen to the first version, so I can't comment on any improvements. The composition was really enjoyable and though I feel this isn't one of you most original pieces, it doesn't need to be.

I'm starting to build a solid collection of "tmcfate" songs on my iPod, and this song will be joining the others!

I thought I listened to this &mdash 03/10/07 - 09:04:13 PM
Well I am glad I listened anyway. You have a way with lyrics. the chord changes and the lines you sing go together just right. Its not easy to do that. Enjoyed this alot

Moms are special &mdash 03/11/07 - 06:22:41 PM
I dont usually check out fan pics and i'm glad i did. this tune has a great sound and i dig the vocal. The harmonies are cool.
The electric guitar rippin at the end is bold and works for me. A great end to an emotional song.
Thanks for sharing such prfound personal thoughts. Its darring.
I keep trying to write something for my Mom and it always sounds cliche. Nothing like that here.
Nice job.

Your lyrics &mdash 07/06/07 - 06:00:48 PM
are real and true - straight to the point. Your whole song is beautiful, but one line (accurately and poignantly says everything in it's imagery) "we are just like ships at sea." Empathy. Also like the melody and harmony in your music - especially the chorus.
