Description:
With (Let Me Be) Incomplete I tried a few experimental things, most notably a drum solo in the middle of the song. I initially couldn’t decide if the drum solo was needed but the more I listened to it the more I felt it fit the song rather well. The concept for the song started off with the main riff at the beginning and the chords for the chorus. The song really started to take shape once I added the bridge section, which is one of my favorites parts of this song.
Some of the lyrics in the middle break down of the song had been around for a few years, but everything else was written in the last few months. Overall, the song has a bit of a cynical anti-society theme to it. It questions exactly how free we are. The majority of our information comes from various media sources which ultimately have their own agenda. We’re told things by governments that are meant to make us feel secure or afraid or however they want us to feel. We’re told to purchase more in order to be happy and feel complete. The chorus sums it all up though, (Let Me Be) Incomplete.
Lyrics:
(Let Me Be) Incomplete
They fill you full of fear - Tell you what you need to hear
Information Society - Hollow security
Decisions made for us - All in the name of freedom
You stay within your box - Keep counting down the clock
Chorus: Let Me Be Incomplete
To never find all that I need
Restless and the need to strive
Without this I am no alive
Purchase your happiness - Get more and more for less
Consume the latest trend - A cycle until the end
Chorus: Let Me Be Incomplete
To never find all that I need
Restless and the need to strive
Without this I am no alive
Repeat Chorus
Follow the lies - The elusive path to glory
A single compromise - The beginning of every story
Believe what you are told - Buy the life that you are sold
Force fed a single truth - Misled without a clue
Chorus

Nice &mdash 03/05/07 - 06:22:52 PM
The guitar was very good and the drums were good too. I think a background female vocalist would actually be kind of cool on this song. But well done. [ Reply to This ]

Yeah I've been noticing a lack of heavy songs here at MacJams. I'm trying to keep it alive! Thanks for your comments, I appreciate the feedback. [ Reply to This ]

Nice one, Dave! Love the guitar riffs, and the kick drums. VOX sound good- the tone of your voice fits for heavy tunes like this.
It's been a while since you posted a tune- glad to see you're still around. Looking forward to your next one! [ Reply to This ]

Thanks Mikey! Yeah it's takes me awhile to complete a song, it seems to take a couple of months.
Glad you're keeping track. And thanks for the encouragement!

We ARE free... &mdash 03/14/07 - 12:29:11 PM
...to do what they want us to do!
Dig where you're coming from on this. Corporate media is a dangerous thing and I can't believe we just let it happen. When I was in grade school I was taught that monopolies were illegal. Now, all the major media outlets are owned by just a few controlling entities, most with ties to the defense industry. We are bomparded with propaganda in the guise of "news". And why the hell do segments of American Idol make it to the LOCAL news broadcast but they never report on real local issues like tax referendums, city council meetings, school board issues etc. It's all f*cked up.
Nice job on the guitars and drums! Like the heavy sounds you got for both. My only suggestion is perhaps effecting the vocals with a little overdrive/distortion. The vox sound almost too clean compared to the wall of guitars and pounding drums. Nice work dude! [ Reply to This ]

Thanks! Yeah the idea for the song was something that's been on my mind a lot as I see these types of propaganda things happening more and more. The new is fast becoming just another TV show as it is no longer unbiased.
Thanks a lot for your comments! Very appreciated.

great lyric &mdash 03/29/07 - 12:18:30 PM
Hey CC - love the lyric to this ... it's what we lack that defines us, not what we buy to make us complete. The guitars are stonkin' on this, nice and beefy... the vox pops out a little, maybe needs to be a little lower or EQ'd slightly differently ... the echo on it works really well though.
Great big Rockin' track - nice work!

Thansk Steve I really appreciate the comments. Usually my vocals are too low because I have a habit of mixing my guitars too loud because that is what I like to hear. Glad you like the lyrics! I've been kicking this song idea around for awhile.
Thanks again!

Cool thrash &mdash 03/30/07 - 07:46:05 AM
Glad I'm not the only one that likes this stuff :)
It would sound cool to stretch some of the vocal phrase ends with a tiny bit of echo just at the end of a few of the lines....
I kept waiting for that lead, and it came in just in time. Nice work.

Harold, thanks for the echo suggestion. I just relistened to the song (which I haven't listened to alot since I posted it up and you might be right. I little trailing off effect might flow nicely.
Thanks!

Damn Dave! &mdash 05/25/07 - 11:40:23 AM
It has Megadeath written all over it! This kicks A$$ man. I'm impressed! Sounds pretty "complete" to me. I'll have to back echoroom on his feedback but other than that? I've got to get me one of those virtual drummers man! thanks for sharing. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks! &mdash 05/25/07 - 12:46:26 PM
Thanks. Megadeth is definitely an influence for me. The drums can take a bit of time to build because I don't use loops, I basically just add one sound at a time but it makes all the differenmce in the end.
Thanks again for your comments!
