Description:
Momentum is a little something I had ticking around in my head. This version is a re-release, after subtle audio enhancements in PEAK. Performed by The Alimar Sym[phony].
MissChaos provided the "harp" glissando MIDI file.
No loops were used. The GarageBand 2 file was nurtured using a 1 Ghz eMac with 384Mb RAM. There are approximately 40 tracks involved. Never stalled once.

This is a truly wondrous piece of music.
It has (IMO) all the elements of a good piece of classical music.
The detail and the blending of the elements is excellent.

Your orchestral "ear" is getting stronger and more developed.
This music is very programmatic, like a sound-track.
I hope that you have the opportunity to match your music with the visual at some point -- be it a video or a movie. It has a great deal of imagination and nice variety of tone-colors.

Every life should have a soundtrack... maybe when we get to the other side, if God has a DVD of my life... you could do the soundtrack for me... All these sounds came out of GB.... Damned great orchestration, Al. Loads of variations, but yet very consistent. Super job on the expression of the orchestral instruments. This must have cost you sooo much (pencil) time, man... But the result is a brilliant piece of 20th century classical music. A delight to listen to.

...Your words are too kind. Mussorgsky was an influence in the 70's. And I believe "Fantasia" embedded its musical influences deep in my subconscience from an early age.

This is very nice, Alimar. I enjoyed following the "story" while listening- kinda like my typical day- haha! The mix sounds wonderful on this end.
I can relate (sort of), to your accomplishment of 40 tracks on the eMac. I had to solve some problems on an identical machine at work, and I was frustrated with how slow it was. [ Reply to This ]

I really like the concept of the piece, a day in your life sort of thing arranged by time. I think of the Beatles Yellow Submarine score when I hear this.
The interplay between instruments is outstanding. The spacing and mix is spot on. I like the builds, nuances, the restful portions give great dynamics.
What I feel I miss is a general melodic theme. Some 4-6 bar melody that is woven into different parts. Then portions of the theme are in other areas as well. Kind of a musical glue that adheres to the entire piece. That said, I've enjoyed listening to this many times. [ Reply to This ]
