Description:
This song was partly inspired by the film "Leaving Las Vegas." It is a love ballad.

Lyrics:
Awake; a lovely lonely dream.
The light is on.
I've been chewing over the weight of this,
and laughing it off.

I've been afraid of the world,
and waving a white flag.
Don't starve a lonely heart,
And then ring it out.

I bring it everywhere, it's the weight of your world.
I show everyone, in a trance.

If it's true that you're frightened,
but laughing at it,
then is your fear of love
better than laughing with me?

I want you to know
The stars are lighting your way.
So to fear not,
if a brother is laughing with you.
I want to show you now that the light is beautiful.
I want you to know that you are beautiful.

You still light up everything.
And now there are stars everywhere.
I don't need to be mixed up.
I don't need to know
what you are planning now.

I'm living all the night with a light on.
I want you to know that you are beautiful.

It starts with every breeze.
Mouthing every breath.
I bring it everywhere, it's the weight of your world.
I show everyone, in a trance.

I want you to know
The stars are lighting your way.
So to fear not,
if a brother is laughing with you.
I want to show you now that the light is beautiful.
I want you to know that you are beautiful.

We're living all the night with a light on.
I want to show you now that you are beautiful.

Nice! &mdash 03/09/07 - 02:17:12 PM
I really like the Piano parts in this one. The singing in parts was weak but in other parts sounded good. You really got somethisg here.

Thanks for the comment. You are right about the vocals; the songs was written and recorded in a short amount of time, and I have not yet done a really careful recording; and my voice was not at its best when I did this. I will hopefully be posting a truer version of this in the next week or so.

I'm so happy to see lyrics here! Makes such a difference to read the words because I don't always get all the lyrics by listening. And they're worth it. This song is very touching. I love it a lot, Josh.

Thanks, estella. This is the second-quickest I have written words (about a day; some songs have taken me years!), but I feel pretty good about them. The song just wanted to come out, and it did not want to wait. This, as opposed to some others that have to be dragged out kicking and screaming the whole way..."problem children," I like to call them.

Wonderful find &mdash 03/31/07 - 02:06:23 AM
I've just come across this, and I'm bowled over... this has been sadly overlooked. The piano and the song are wonderful ... the vocals are ok, but you've gotta re-do them, man. You've obviously got it in you to do them better (your falsetto is really lovely).

This is a fantastic song man, please do it justice!!!

Let me now when you post this, please.

Steve

I went for a run by the lake today and your song came up on my ipod. I hadn't noticed how great your backing vocals are. Hope you're doing well, Josh.
