Description:
This is an old song - I think from around 2003 - I recorded and mixed on my harddisk recorder, before the days of easy editing and flexible software. I almost forgot about it, but found it back and listening to it after all this time I actually thought it was reasonable enough to post it here. I did drum programming in an old program called virtual drummer, played guitar, bass, piano, and vocals. Erwin Steenbergen played the electric piano and hammond organ.

Lyrics:
Stand still - you're shaking
come on now - you're breaking
seeing is believing
feeling just feeling

It's time
just time
slipping through your fingers

You're running round in circles
doesn't matter - it's undefined

It's just time
slipping through your fingers
you run instead of walking
someone says 'hey boy, you're getting old'

Hardware:
Fender stratocaster, Fender acoustic Squier bass, piano, Sure SM57, Akai dps-12, plus whatever Erwin used

Software:
Virtual drummer

A neat Bowie-meets-INXS feel... &mdash 03/08/07 - 08:57:54 PM
...with maybe some touches of Gilmour in those leads...

A nice bit of blue-eyed soul/funk, here, Denny... I really like it... The feel is right..

Mind you, this is one of those songs that's going to grow more haunting with the years...

Nice one bro! &mdash 05/06/07 - 02:18:18 AM
Whatever Erwin uses for on-location-recording: the trusty old E-MU Classic keys module. I believe it was the Wurlitzer 200a patch and the Hammond B3 patch. You cannot possibly expect me to carry the Rhodes MK-60 as well as the Roland VK-7 around....

Great song Denny, maybe we'll transform it into a true BrainFreeze classic. Or maybe we won't and you'll earn lots of money with this pure version.
BTW did you already settle your guitar-solo award thingie with Ed?

Glad I stopped by &mdash 05/24/07 - 06:55:52 AM
Just saw your name in the "Who's Online" list and decided to stop by. Glad I did. This is very nice. Lovely playing, on the keyboards and guitars. Really like the lead - it suits the song perfectly. Nice, laid back funk with thoughtful lyrics. Rather cool. Peace.

I love the lead &mdash 05/26/07 - 10:52:32 PM
Great work with the strat, nice sound-scape all around. The excellent lyrics are done justice by that superior vocal . Really like this one.

Hi all,
thanks for listening to this old work of mine, and thanks for the nice words.
