Brought me to tears &mdash 03/10/07 - 10:40:40 AM
Paul, this little number speaks volumns about sadness and loneliness, yet with unfathomable sweetness and beauty. Tears are good sometimes; thanks for the eyewash. :-)

God bless,

Rick

Very moving, indeed &mdash 03/10/07 - 11:20:02 AM
Peaceful, yet so melancholy...I picture a woman, looking out the window into the rain as the man departs in a taxi. She stands there for two more hours, reliving all the memories, saddened that she will never see him again. Yet the last notes ascend, and so will her heart. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece with us. :-)

introspective &mdash 03/11/07 - 10:56:23 AM
This piece is not "sad", particularly; the mood is more introspective and reflective.

I like the opening melody, which is very distinctive. There are variations of it throughout the piece. I wish it had returned in its more simple form at least once before the end.

This melody, in fact, reminds me a little of the slow movement of Mendelssohn's 5th symphony ("Reformation").

Your tasteful, restrained piano playing is excellent as always, and serves this introspective mood well.

Cinematic... &mdash 03/12/07 - 07:09:39 PM
... I could see a woman or a man in that green filtered light by a window on which rain is spattering... or, what the heck... Bogart waiting for someone who doesn't arrive at a Parisian train platform...

Cameron is right about the introspection, and yet... I do get a twinge of the sadness of a goodbye here...

All your stuff is music, Paul... Never a wasted note. Nothing fills space.

My dad played piano... &mdash 03/13/07 - 02:45:41 PM
...he was quite a player. So are you. And you can write. He'd have loved this. I do. Very much.

Beautiful &mdash 03/13/07 - 11:21:20 PM
I love all of your piano pieces. This one is especially touching and hit me with lots of surprises.

All of your songs are incredibly powerful and tear you around emotionally, its quite unpleasant to be honest and i mean that as a compliment. It's not everyday i listen to a bit of music that turns me from being happy to a misery.

Your music is amazing and i'm jealous.

this sucked so much... &mdash 03/14/07 - 12:22:09 AM
life out of me. you know how sometimes after a heavy movie all you can do is sit there for a while and bask in the lingering emotion? well, this piece had that effect on me. wow. a beautiful piece played beautifully. I only wish it were a real Steinway.
