one summer day she went away gone n left
with nothin to say now shes gone but i dont worry
im sittin on top of the world

worked all the summer slaved all fall
come spring time i got nothin' to show for it all

a very soulful voice and appealing delivery. i think the guitar is a little too aggressive for the arrangement. I would maybe simplify the bass part a well. But a very interesting concept, and i enjoyed it a lot. I always love to hear people experimenting with the traditional blues forms. Really very fertile ground, to me.

enjoyed this!

Cool &mdash 03/10/07 - 09:34:43 PM
Nice vocal! Which one of you is it? I agree with Ziti that the guitar is too much too quick. I would also like the vocal, as good as it is, to be a little farther back in the mix. I think this should be a sweet, mellow song with a lot of power underneath but it is just sort of overwhelming the way the mix is now.

I'm sorry I have to disagree with above. I think this song is perfect,

I'm now listening to the Mississippi Sheik's version of this fine tune. I'm most familiar with Howlin' Wolf's and Cream's version.
This as a fine addition - a combination of blues styles.
If I were to change anything in the mix, I'd lower the 'sheen' on the rhythm guitar.

Very nice! &mdash 03/12/07 - 06:50:03 PM
Love the vox, and everything else fits in well - where'd the drums go at the end? Possibly halving the number of notes on the bass would have settled it down a little, but, hey it's all good. This is one of my favourite blues, and you did a memorable version.
Cheers,
Neil

I'm not familiar with the original tune, but I love it. Y'all did a great job.

NEW VERSION &mdash 03/13/07 - 12:07:02 PM
Alright, maybe lazy.

But, new Version is in Production to address the awkwardness of this one (we hope for Real Bass this go).

That said, this is an aggressive take on this piece; the Irony is not intended to be passive. New version will clarify the POV and take it out of the middle ground. Coming soon.

Many thanks for the review and CRIT Comments. Very much appreciated.

Dixie

Love &mdash 06/13/07 - 07:08:39 AM
the tune . I noticed you used a vocal transformer of some sort that made the vocals a little digital for such an awesome organic simple song . I enjoyed the feel of the vocals over all but couldn't help but notice the digital over tones . Im a bass fan and think the complexity of the bass was a great fit . The heavy guitar at the end felt a little weird to me like ....hey where did you come from outta no where . It broke up the mellow vibe of the song I felt . The song as a whole is beautiful and well done thanx for the upload.....Downloaded !
