Description:
This is another tune from the upcoming CD-"Old School, Same Rules"...the cd will be all acoustic blues in the more traditional style. Joining me on this track is the drummer in my band, Mr. Fran Bishop, and my friend Scott Bronnes on the harp.

An electric, sorta latin feel version of this song is on my second CD and is also posted on my page.

I am happy to say, that this is my first recording featuring real drums, and although they are taking a backseat here, we are having good luck recording drum tracks in general, so my music is going to be featuring real drums very often from now on.

After the acoustic Cd is finished, there will be a cd of the band. We started sessions for that today!

Recording a band with garage band is challanging, but doable. Look for a post in the near future!

for now tho, I hope you like this tune, and I look forward to comments and suggestions.

peace

Suggestions &mdash 03/12/07 - 09:51:46 AM
Nice singing, nice acoustic feel. If you are looking for suggestions, consider using a standup bass. The middle section (when your bass line drops out sounds) like the beginning of a fade out instead of an instrumental section (and then it happens again near the ending); I'd make the drummer more prominent at the beginning of those sections, give him a little solo, so it sounds more like trading 4s or something. And if a bass were driving the tune, you could free up your acoustic for more stuff...

Sounds great... &mdash 03/12/07 - 12:12:03 PM
...your voice is such an awesome feature to everything else you do so well. Real sweet to hear acoustic blues. Sounds great. And the lyrics are killer. Loved the electric version, too.

... comment on your playing Fran - always right on the mark. I especially like this acoustic phase - you really need to get one ;) Vocals sound perfect for the tune. The production is what leaps out at me on this. Fran B's playing is subtle and moves things along nicely, and Scott's fills are just right. Recording is clean and full of life and sparkle. Tobin's idea about the standup would be definitely worth trying for this song. Love it!
Classic photo btw :)

Can't wait for that acoustic CD... &mdash 03/12/07 - 08:47:24 PM
This sounds terrific... Simple, uncluttered, effective....

Reminds me just a little bit of Greg Brown and Bill Morrissey's version of 'Little Red Rooster'... and Van Morrison's or Joan Osborne's versions of 'You Gotta Help Me'...

It might be cool to bring up the level and the compression on the drums so the tiniest bit, to see if you can get a bit more drum in there without overwhelming the track... I sense there's some good tone in the drum sound that may not have reached its full potential...

I love the guitars and the harp...

You know... Fran... it's about the cats...

First off... &mdash 03/13/07 - 01:31:48 PM
...that cat is possibly the coolest cat I've ever seen.
"Do you find something funny?! Laugh, punk... I dare ya..."

And speaking of cool cats - You've done it again, Z.
The recording is very clean and crisp and the playing... well, I don't think I have to mention the playing, it kinda goes without saying (hah, rhymes).

Very nicely done, indeed!

anyone who knows me, knows how much I love the feline critters. The one in the picture is quite a prize. He is tipping the scales at around 37 pounds at this point. He is a big lump o luv. And is very protective of his friend, Mini-me.

Thanks fo the kindness, maestro!

like the slinky slide sound. That is very catchy. The whole tune has a nice feel to it, with instrumental especially.

Great Groove &mdash 03/30/07 - 11:29:21 AM
I hope you keep doing more acoustic work and I notice you snuck a little slide in there, which sounds very cool (unless I'm hearing things). Your guitar sound great and I think this is possibly your strongest songwriting yet. You made me listen twice.

wow! &mdash 03/30/07 - 12:14:41 PM
thanks ledeb....the response I am getting from these recordings is just so great!...as for song writing, I had these lyrics, and an electric version of this is posted and on my second cd....the music is a very tried and true blues groove, used in many songs from Sonny Boy Williamsons "help me" to 'green onions"... and the slide is there, and a new addition as I am learning the slide techniques just for this cd...and it's opened a whole new world to me.

thank you so much for the kindness!

ZITI on Blues again &mdash 07/15/07 - 01:54:57 PM
Well .. it's more than great song to describe ..
What a great performance is that ?? .. the drums is just amazing than the loops .. IT'S A REAL SONG !!!
The harmonics as i think sounds great on this .. this is the 1st hearing your vocal .. it's strong and nice to hear it .. really fit the music ..
Overall rating is INCREDIBLE .. the music is great great ..

Yesterday i was on PRIME MEGASTORE in Amman ..
I saw a CD for someone called MARC NADER .. he seems to me as a middle eastern player .. he has amazing voice and his style is blues and jazz in acoustic guitar ..
when i heard him .. i missed to the blues days and needed to buy this CD but it was to EXPENSIVE .. so i'm glad now to hear the real blues in a real song with a real MASTER ..

Great and loved it .. one of my favorite at MJ
Thanks for posting and pls keep up your great work ..
