Description:
Played on a nylon string guitar.

I based the rythm and structure on an "allemande", an old dance form (frequently used by JS Bach in his suites)

I was thinking about the idea of composing a few other pieces besides this one, so that they would form a suite of 5 or 6 pieces.

lovely expression .. great playing, I really like your touch: light when needed and heavier when needed - at all the right moments. The meandering restful flow gives it that tranquility. Kudos.

intense and multi-faceted &mdash 03/20/07 - 01:34:13 PM
This is an intriguingly beautiful piece, and extraordinarily well played. My only critique would be on recording, where it sounds like there's a little too much reverb and possibly too much bass-boost, it sounds a little bit muddy and boomy. I would like to hear the guitar sound a little clearer, but don't reduce the bass too much, I like the deep resonance you have there. The composition flows very nicely, and has a great combination of old-classical, Spanish, and newish-jazzy influences all wrapped up together.

Drakonis

I agree &mdash 03/21/07 - 02:51:59 AM
with you on the recording part. I just put myself in front of the mic and play.
I have to learn a bit more about editing and post production.

to see a new great guitar player on the site. There are a few, mostly in folk or blues. Your solid classical background makes you indispensable. Perfect writing and playing. Downloaded.

Very beau piece with excellent tone through my laptop (I must try it through my HiFi!) and great to hear a true Spanih Guitar. Did you use alternative string tunings for this piece? Kind regards, Girk

Hi &mdash 04/04/07 - 02:28:33 PM
Thanks for listening. I use standard tuning on this one, but I do use lots of "harp effects".

Marvelous work &mdash 04/26/07 - 04:07:05 PM
I do not know how I can add a compliment higher than these given before mine. I love the tones of the strings on the classical guitar, especially when played with such expertise.

It has been mentioned already that the recording is not optimized; however this has not been detrimental to the exhibit of your fine, practiced talent and ability to render these notes.

Fantastic! &mdash 07/09/07 - 02:19:04 PM
Hello Stefaan, this is brilliant playing, and a lovely piece; very open, but with a sense of mystery at the same time. Just fantastic! I see I have found this very late -- 3 months since you posted it -- and it may be that you are no longer around to read this comment. If you do see it, however, I just wanted to say that I hope to hear a lot more of your music!

Cheers,
Clark

Hello &mdash 07/21/07 - 08:04:06 AM
Thank you for the message. Glad to hear you like the piece and the playing.
I have been silent quite a while, buet I'm still around.
In a few days I'll have a brand new concert guitar.
It sounded fabulous when I tried it two weeks ago, and I'm sure it will be a great inspiration to me. So I can promise more guitarpieces soon.

greetings

Stefaan
