Description
A new song.. I worked on track automation on this song. Still.. I would rather perform than mix. But Im learning, I used the archtop electric guitar and the jazz bass. It has a small bass solo. What Do It Mean??? I just made up the words as I went along.

Nice song ----
but "what do you mean"? I look at mixing as part of the process so I enjoy it as much as actually playing. It's all fun or work - ah - more fun.

I like your song dude - Thanks for sharing,

from the breath
loved the breath opening up the track.. so glued to backing track
guitar parts sounds really swanky :):)
the humming in the background was very teen-spirited!
i like your approach to lyrics more and more. you can dig up various different moods from a theme sentence so spontaneously !

Can ya dig it ....
... almost had a little early "beatles" vibe to it .... I enjoyed the little harmonies ... (oh yeah and the deep breathing .. haha).. nice track - came through a little "air-heavy" but that just gave it that "live" sound. I'm glad to hear you singing more on your tunes and your voice is coming through very nicely.

I mean that the Cubbies are gonna rock this year!
How's that?
Real sweet, spontaneous sound.. And I like the way you play with the reverb. Subtle touch that gives the piece more depth.
I'm a newbie on the GB front, myself. Nice work, musichead. Cool bass solo. Didn't know you played those fat strings.

Groovy dude
I love the opening vocal and chords. Diggin the bass, yeah it could be louder, but hey, it's sounds cool. Mixing can be both fun and frustrating. the more I do it, the more I learn. You just keep working to get that sound you're after; I'll keep diggin' your tunes. It's a good working relationship;-)
Keep 'em comin'

do-dodoole
Dave, what's "track automation"?

Your spontaneous lyrics are ace! "The dog is crying - what does that mean?" Brilliant!

I also really the do-dodoole backing vocals (sorry, I really don't know how to spell that!!)

Nice!
Steve, you're branching out into some different tunes - sounds like you've overcome your hassles with lyrics. This is a good tune. Maybe it could do with a slightly more mellow treatment - in the production area. The beat seems almost too strong for the tune itself. But hey that's just my opinion :) Sounds like you've made some big steps since we were talking last year. A good post.
Cheers,
Neil

Hey! Way cool!
Nice tuneage all around Steve. I really like the lyrics. Your vocal delivery is quite nice and you managed to pull off the "doo-doo-doodle-doo" sections really well. Color me impressed!

Be well!

Smoothie
Steve - this was working well, and then the brushes and doo-doos came in, and it took off! This is such a cool little tune, with a great live sound to it. Its a sunny Sunday here, and this has just tweaked my mood and made it better.

Thanks man!

TIPS!
The drums are way off time! Maybe just keep it acoustic and voice? The guitar track is a little rough at times. Maybe do another take and try to match up the effects on the vocals so they sound like they are coming from the same space. Lata

REAL LIVE
Like the Life in this one; the "let it roll" lyric developments and twists, the "Doo-da-Doos and the Kit - the upfront brush hits - playful and adds space.

Nice Feel to the Capture - immediate and lively, with good Vocal color.

Like it lots,
Coop

Hello!
You were the very first person to listen and comment on my very first song on MJ, so I figured I'd check your stuff out. This is a cool little bouncy tune, with a good melody and a chuggin' beat. I like it.

Without a doubt, I would listen to this song many times just to hear that unbelievably sexy bass solo!

Others have mentioned the drum timing thing, which I'm sure you noticed as well, but if you're cranked this out in just a few hours and made up the lyrics as you went along, then this is basically a demo. I'm sure if you wanted to put a hundred more hours into this you could tighten up the drums, and monkey with the mix, but I gather you like top just create spontaneously, which is very cool, too. You said that you like to write 3 songs per week- I am literally in slack-jawed awe of that kind of productivity!

Bottom line: cool bouncy little tune here, with some pretty intriguing lyrics despite - or perhaps because of - their improvised nature.

~Brian Weiland

PS- Have I mentioned that I LOVE the bass solo?!! Man you're good!

thanks a ton
Thanks a ton...My guitar playing is average at best.
Bass is what I love and play live most of the time.
Thanks for the kind words,,But I dont think its the drums
that are off,, I think its my timing. I believe the drums
where the last thing I added.. All my songs at MJ are demos.
Thanks again

nice lyrics man. you know, this is the tune that makes me beer thirsty. i guess it's the cheerful, good vibe, that comes out of it. i also had little issue with drums, it seemed to me even off-beat in couple of places, but nothing major. keep it up ;)

I love the fact ....
...that you made up the words as you went along!

That's great :)
I'm a big fan of improvisation, and lyric improvisation sometimes turns out very well. This is certainly proof. Catchy tune; love the jangly feel of it.

Nice :D
