Description
This is 7 of 52 in my song-a-week efforts. I don't remember the origins of this song. I literally found it jotted down in a notebook and recorded myself singing it with my guitar. I actually did two takes; in one I messsed up a few lines (if you listen carefully, you can hear where the vocal bleed through on the guitar mic and the lead vocal don't match). Added the other instruments later. As with all of this last batch of songs, I'm recording more as songwriter's demos. If anyone is interested in doing a more polished version of this song, let me know. More info and lyrics on my blog: http//web.mac.com/...

Lyrics
A thousand days have come
since I agreed to spend a day at what you do
and I have walked a thousand miles
since I agreed to walk a mile in your shoes.
You asked me for my shirt;
I gave you my hat and coat too.
So tell me where can I go to lose these blues?

I know all things must pass;
I know that I can last, I can get through
though I have given you the sun,
made you my only one, you still want the moon.
Yeah, I gave you all my colors
but still you are seeking other hues,
so tell me where can I go to lose these blues?

I was just out of the womb;
now I am looking at the tomb, what should I conclude?
Like a sentence that’s unending
well, we while away our time in servitude.
So, like the first pawn taken, I will try to enjoy the solitude.
So tell me where can I go to lose these blues?

Hardware:
The usual: my MacBook Pro captures the sound via a MOTU Traveler. The guitar mic is a Røde NT4. The vocal mic is a 20 year old Samson that was marketed to me as "90% as good as a Shure SM57 for half the price." The electric guitar is processed through a Line6 Pod. The acoustic guitar is a Tacoma JK50. The electric is an old Ibanez of uncertain origin.
Software:
LogicPro7. The organ is Logic's B3 plug-in.

Live feeling
A really nice song. Good relaxed mood .. And I am impressed how you got such a live feeling. Live sounding music is the best.

Back in my early 20s, I was practicing bass three hours a day, playing in a band with a drummer who practiced six hours a day and a guitarist who was one the "up and coming" lead guitar players of my home town. Plus, I was writing a song every day. I... [see more]
