how cool &mdash 03/25/07 - 07:15:03 AM
The amazing power of modern technology coupled with the nearness and cozy acoustic beauty of you two jamming across the borders.

This is just amazing!

Thanks for sharing this moment:) Brought a smile to my face and cheered me up, while I'm in the middle of dull work, when the sun is shining and I should be outdoors enjoying the nice weather we are having here now...

never sounded so good ..
.. you guys ... I particular like the way you asked
Pete about editing the end and beginning and then
.. well ... didn't... lol. Seemless instrument switching there Caroline, never heard a join ;o)

Spring is in the air ... fun overload. I think you need
to do a series Caroline, "The Skype sessions" .. brave MJers doing whatever, improvs and talking.. live and raw - of course I am far too cowardly for that.

Never knew Johannes you were a duke of uke? Happy ditty, lots of fun - thanks for sharing! Nice to hear you Johannes too.

Wonderfully spontaneous.
Amusing.
Smiling.
It's like we were THERE.

Amazing that such sounds can emanate from such humble instruments. And on the telephone, yet!

Very enjoyable and uplifting.

delightful bits &mdash 03/25/07 - 12:36:40 PM
Pink and fluffly frivolity, mirth and smirks, ukeleles and kazoos, and a couple of very sweet Macjammer friends... caught and compressed in sparkly MP3 amber. Love it!

Addition &mdash 03/25/07 - 03:32:55 PM
Should add to Carolines introduction that unfortunately we didnt manage to schedule any live meeting this time.

But skype-jamming was nice. Had no idea that it would end like this when first I called Caroline .. it just appeared when she wanted to hear the wakeup-tune I made in the morning, and so she started to jam along, singing and and bringing kazoos and eggs .. what a party .. then I asked her if she could record it and so she called for Peter .. and suddenly off we were .. haha .. really really fun Caro .. dig it a lot!

Well... &mdash 03/27/07 - 07:34:58 AM
...my friend's been trying to convince me to get a uke. Not just for travel...but for moments just like this. They're fun and sound great. Then there's that monster on YouTube who makes it sound like an orchestra.

Thanks, caroline and Cori. Great way to start the day! Your kids must have been "bright eyed and bushy tailed" after hearing that one, Cori.

a fun time was had by all. I liked the kazoo and the toy piano in the background. It was like Schroeder from Peanuts was jammin' alon.

More modern age communicational wonders...

A great shared moment... ANd I get to hear Johannes' voice for the first time since 'The Dream'...

I think I heard some artifacts from the Rummaging Plug-In...

The care and attention put into the lyric really shows...

Hoo boy.

Paddle your own Kazoo! &mdash 03/28/07 - 07:46:40 PM
Whole lot of shakin' going on... Uke were made for me... My Kazoo gently weeps... Uke make me feel like dancin'...It's not unUkesual....What's Kazoo Pussycat... er...Ukesbury... let's quit whilst one is ahead.

Caroline, this track really suffers from over rehearsal, don't be such a perfectionist - try and keep it spontaneous!! ;-)

KK xoxox

PS - I might get a Kazoo then we can form the Cotswold Orchestra of Cool Kazooists ... could be affliated to the Federation of United Kingdom Kazooists

What Ziti Said &mdash 03/29/07 - 10:03:26 PM
How true it is. How can there be hatred in a world where this kind of joy is possible? This should absolutely be the Macjams National Anthem and we should all be issued kazoos and ukeleles when we join.

I was thinking of you today, anyway, when Dogger Bank came on the television and, for a split second, I thought, "What's Caroline's song doing on television." Then I spanked myself.

:-)

Caro Curry - can I have that with chips? &mdash 03/30/07 - 12:00:41 AM
Just goes to show what a small world we live in : ) Lots of fun - isn't Skype wonderful??!! Caro - you may not remember speaking with Alf, Ross and I on Skype late last year, but yours was the best signal of all 3 (and Alf only lives up the road!).
Is this the first of many international Skype jams?
Now Curry, I have a uke (see my bio page) can you teach me to play like that? Either the neck's too thin or I have bass player's fingers.
A classic - great to see you back Caro!!
Neil

.. neck's too thin or I have bass player's fingers &mdash 03/31/07 - 03:18:59 AM
"Either the neck's too thin or I have bass player's fingers".

Yes .. or both. The smallness of the instrument is maybe the only real barrier for a player with fingers used to guitar, not to mention bass. Otherwise the tuning is similar so it is just to keep playing as if it was a guitar missing 5:th and 4:th string...

Uke and kazoo ... a match made in heaven &mdash 03/30/07 - 05:50:54 AM
What larks! How wonderful to get such good sound quality over Skype ... I must try it some time. Though of course *ahem* not all of us have our own resident sound engineer ...

A couple of days after you recorded this I had the pleasure of hearing Johannes play the ukulele live in a park in Nottingham and seeing the smiles on the faces of everyone who walked past. Most people have never seen a live uke jam in a public place before and it was lovely to see their faces light up.

"Lost me bit of plastic"... ! I love it!
