Description:
Hectorious(Bass and Sound Bed)
Karmatoburn(Crazy Keys)

This is another wacked out crazy Bebop Funk and Junk tune I put out last year. John (KTB) Helped me out again with his awesome piano work. I reworked some parts but it is still in need of some more soloing parts. Any Takers out there in MJ land?

Nice artwork, ha! &mdash 03/26/07 - 11:37:55 PM
I enjoyed this groove a lot. Very spacey, especially with Johns keys like that.

This is a weird tune but fun to work with. &mdash 03/27/07 - 02:59:01 PM
Space is the key in this piece. John did a Killer job one this one. This tune still needs some more soloing in it. Thanks for stopping by:0}

smooth &mdash 03/27/07 - 03:23:31 PM
It is really great as it is. Cool drums, and the bass you do is very professional and tight. The fast walking style is cool. Not really in need of much more. Could be cool to do a doubling of some of the piano figures with a muffled jazz guitar though. Not sure if I'm up to it, but might give it a go if you don't mind... That piano is planted into the groove as butter on a piece of bread.

The panned synth loop is a familiar one, and it's quite tasty.

Sometimes you just like something... &mdash 03/27/07 - 07:20:52 PM
...and I just like this.

John's genius in these pieces is to find the space where something cool could go, and then putting it there... while still letting it sound organic to the whole...

H., I always enjoy your bass playing...

Ed

Thank You &mdash 03/27/07 - 07:40:33 PM
I agree with you John has some killer skills.
I wanted to put this out there because it different.
Its like a painting that gets you looking at it a little longer because it catches your eye. Like I said earier I still need to put some more colors in it to finish it.
I need some one to bring some new paint to complete it.

Brilliant musicianship &mdash 03/28/07 - 04:42:10 PM
God I wish I could play the ivories (or the plastics) like that! Fantastic.

Great start. Great middle. Bass wonderful throughout. Last bit: that piano playing again. And that lurvly guitar. It all gels together perfectly without losing each instrument's individual space.

Truly excellent.

But what the f@&k is that ending with the loud hi-hat? Sounds like the beginning of another song or something? Then again, I'm no Jazz expect. Far, far from it.

Nice to meet you, Blue. Brilliant musicianship.

Very cool! &mdash 03/28/07 - 05:48:18 PM
Lots of room and lots of action - a subtle but difficult to reach mix.
Lovely production and some great playing from you both.
Cheers,
Neil

It's funny, but John has really helped me develop an affection for NuJazz that I didn't have before hearing his music. I think the two of you play really nicely together and I hope there's more in the works. It seems to be so much of a given, but GREAT bass work, Hector.

I really like the break with the bongos and guitar and I think you're right, that it would be cool to have some more instrument soloing. The song really comes alive after that break. I'd actually be very interested to hear what PV would do with this.

Nice work, boys.

So cool. I love walking bass. KTB is awesome, here.

Great piece. Top to bottom. Side to side.

Instant fave artist on my list.

Thank you Bob:0} &mdash 04/02/07 - 03:07:49 PM
Like I posted earlier on this song. It still needs another voice to finish it. There is plenty of room for another artist to solo on this tune.

I forgot about this! sounds like you tweaked it up some nice. This was the one where I took some 8 bars and then left 8 open, etc etc...I hope someone can flesh it out. Can't believe I missed this when you posted up. Too much travel man. That you doing the guitar thang at the end? nice
