All that jazz &mdash 08/09/04 - 09:37:22 AM
Smooth jazz like this makes me feel good. Nice job. Bass
lines are very challenging to me so I appreciate what
you've accomplished here. Good guitar solos. Good
variety.

Sweet &mdash 08/09/04 - 09:45:50 AM
Love the walking bass, and the chords; everything works great together; nice solo, too. Swell.
You should post more of your stuff, it's a real pleasure to listen to...
One thing, though: do you really like that tremolo thing that much? Not that I critisize you choice of settings, but I can't get rid of the vision of the spoon with trembling jello.... but it's just me, naturally...

Tremelo &mdash 08/09/04 - 10:37:03 AM
Nice track. The bass is wonderful. And the lead guitar
solo, when it comes in, is a killer. I wish it would've
started earlier. The main thing you might want to
reconsider is the stylistic choice of using such a fast
tremolo on you comping elec guitar. It gave the whole
thing an unsettled feeling for me, in the midst of such
great and mellow playing. Very enjoyable.

Aaaah, the lead guitar &mdash 08/09/04 - 11:17:18 AM
Finally. Reading Tobin's remarks I was anticipating, and
I'm not disappointed. 'Cept maybe I wanted to hear
more... Great bass work too! Is the bass GB? N*I*C*E!!

Cool track!! I like it.
I agree with Tobin about the tremolo but it really
made me feel so good.

Are you playing all instruments?

Great soloing around a swinging, upbeat groove.
Great chord work, too. Look forward to hearing
more.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS &mdash 08/10/04 - 07:34:25 PM
Is that the cymbal or an open circuit? Trained guitar/bass/
drums. Well trained. Well performed.

The beat could have a been a teeny more convincing... I
would've preffered to hear it on the hi-hat or something...
just my two pennies.

Great job.

Love Jazz guitar &mdash 08/10/04 - 08:27:58 PM
so I loved this. You get a nice warm sound out of the Tele
too. Not sure about the tremolo but the solo swings like
anything.

Got any more?

cool and swingin &mdash 08/14/04 - 09:03:12 AM
Very nice track! I do hope you answer the previous
commenters' questions soon, for I too am curious what
you played and what was synthed. Your guitar playing is
EXCELLENT. Loved the solos especially. Very smooth and
effortless-sounding.

The bass line is very imaginative too.

OK. Time to put the questions to rest. I was a professional
Engineer and producer a few years back (left for various
reasons) I started playing around in GB and was amazed.

This track was a little test to see how realistic I could
make something sound with just loops and no live
playing.

Well... the test worked. NONE of what you are hearing is
played live! The bass and drums are GB loops. All the
guitar parts are loops from an old sample CD I had.

Not saying that it was easy to do. The solos are cut up
pretty intensely and in some cases there is only 3 notes in
a single loop.

I do play guitar and that is the only way I could get the
feel right. Could I have played the solos live? Yes but it
was more fun in GB to see the power the program held. I
am working on a couple more jazz pieces and will be
playing on them because it is a lot faster than cutting and
pasting a solo together.

The tremolo sound you are hearing on the rhythm guitar
is the loop falling apart. It was recorded at a much slower
tempo with chorus on it. Once I sped up the loop it gave
the tremolo sound and started to degrade the loop.

I want to thank all of you for your great comments about
the song. It may be loops but it still had to be arranged as
a song and that?s the fun part to me.

Ingenius use of loops!!! &mdash 08/22/04 - 07:39:20 PM
I am not worthy to even comment on this song. I was
listening to this as I was reading through the
comments by everyone and so when the lead guitar
kicked in I was blown away. I could hardly hear the
tremelo so I did not have a problem with it at all. I
was really digging it until I read your response to
everyones comments and to discover there is no live
playing surprises me. Are the guitar loops
something you did previous to discovering GB?

Great work! We want more postings...

So this is all loops? &mdash 12/13/04 - 02:06:32 PM
That's pretty good. But I guess that explains why there is
no real end to the piece.

Ok, so I'm a total non-believer in loops. Never used one in
my life, but I recognize that there is skill in cutting loops
and reassembling them into a new composition.

High marks.
