Ambience (9)Space (130)Sadness (25)Restless (5)Peace (104)Returning. (1)
Description:
This is a follow-on from Returning #1 as it has elements (actually a different take) of that earlier mix, along with other Ambient textures, some evolving and others stable.

This felt more like film music so hence I've placed the mix under the Experimental banner. Go figure!

Very nice sweepy, wavy sounds. Made me think of A.C. Clarke for some reason. A lone spacship appears on the crescent of the red planet, nears slowly, then docks at our station.

Why does it end so abruptly? That's a shame. The spacemen were just beginning to leave the capsule and now you've killed them all. :O(

Great track, sir. Kudos to you!

A C Clark is good!! &mdash 03/29/07 - 12:03:53 AM
I think that much of the Ambient music around sounds 'spacey' but that's probably due to the effects a much as the actual music. We're steered towards a particular type of mood by particular types of music in particular films and this, if effective, becomes a stereotype.

The abruptness of the ending. It's a 'Mark 1' version and I always like to feel the water before committing, hence all my short stuff since last November on MJ's.

One day I'll lengthen this piece, maybe sooner than I normally would because the version you heard is still in my software as the 'current project'. (I've been 'Gray'd Out' by watching the first series of Gray's Anatomy on DVD and listening over and over to the theme tune. All 30 seconds of it. I'm on the last couple of episodes, so can return to more normal activities, probably tonight).

Thanks for stopping by.

Paul.

I'm glad you liked the sounds..... &mdash 03/29/07 - 12:08:33 AM
Hi ML.

I'm glad that you liked the sounds. The verby drum sound is one of my favourites. It was one of the presets I found when I purchased Ambient Keys a couple of days ago. It reminds me of Blade Runner/Vangelis, so I had to add it into the mix.

The other sounds are mainly Kubik and reverb/compression.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

Take care.

Paul.

I like those shimmering, evolving, glowing sounds. They *do* remind me of those beautiful tones Vangelis put to Blade Runner... seems like it's rare that people get that flavor of sound, but it's mighty sweet. I enjoyed listening to this.

Many thanks PV...... &mdash 03/30/07 - 10:00:38 AM
I guess you can tell, if you've read any of my comments over the last month or two regarding my music and favourite styles/composers, that I have a favourite with Blade Runner and VanGelis.

Thanks for stopping by and taking time out to leave a note.

Paul.

I get some of the futuristic/space imagery that other people have mentioned, but I also could see this being used in a nature documentary, possibly about Antarctica with them flying a camera over the terrain.

I really like this and the horns toward the end gave me shivers. Thanks for posting it!

Thanks for listening L. &mdash 04/01/07 - 03:36:34 AM
Thanks for stopping by and listening.

This piece is a mishmash of short phrases melded together.

(I have a folder on one of my hard disks where I place any phrases/sounds that I might use later. It's sort of like a recycle bin. I revisit these snippits from time to time).

You caught me out with the Antarctic thingy! I have been toying with the idea of a winter theme for a couple of weeks and some of these sounds/phrases are part of that thinking. I have the melody. I just need to record it and add suitable backing. Without words it could be playing any time of year but with the words I have, it is definitely winter. More specifically Chrimbo, for those who are graced with warmer climes over the festive season.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Paul.

Thanks Enrique... &mdash 04/02/07 - 12:29:34 AM
I always appreciate comments about my works. It's kind of people to listen and then leave a note.

The mixture of disparate parts is, good or bad, an itch that I have at this point in time. I enjoy 'blending/bending the edges' of music in many ways. I love experimenting with sonic textures and seeing what comes out.

I try to keep a 'proper musical feel' to all the music that I produce in that somewhere in most mixes I upload there will be some normal notes or phrasing, on top of or somewhere obvious in the mix. This will hopefully become more obvious as I get used to some of my latest purchases in the soft synth category and can program them a little better to both blend in and emphasise musical collages.

Take care.

Paul.
