Description:
First song I ever wrote on the piano. Although you don't hear much of it.

Lyrics:
Walk on Water

Why?
Why do I need the time?
Did you see the sign?

When you're stuck in a corner
and you can't stand still
You've got to work hard
to get over that hill
And then you feel a chill
That's what I am
That's what I am

I travel in a new direction
look at my reflection
five thousand times
and I say goodbye

Walk on water if I can
I get high
I get high

When you're grinding bones
and you don't make sense
You're constantly moving
and you never bend
back to the maze
of what you left
of what you left

Having trouble when I'm not connecting
A sound reflecting on
and I ask why
Then I try to hide
Walk on water if I can
I get high
I get high

obviously with a screen name like lavalamp you must of enjoyed the sixties pyschedelia. this is right in the pocket from that era. i think with the laughing and giggling at the end someone did get high. fun song i enjoyed it.

Thanks for the comment.I've got about 35 songs in the can. Finished. And I'll be posting more and more in the near future. All different kinds of music (not just pyschedelic)Hope the production was a little better than the 60's though.

Lots of spaces in this tune... &mdash 04/04/07 - 05:47:59 PM
...really, really nicely done.

Wow...this rocks. Beautifully.

Don't even want to talk influences. It would take away from a great piece.

Kudos, dude. guitapick likes...

Thanks again GP &mdash 04/05/07 - 04:18:00 AM
Really nice of you to say. I always appreciate comments. My only problem I think I have is with the singing, but I just do it and I think it's pretty good. I have tons of songs for the female voice which I'll be posting next week or so.
See Ya

I really like your singing and "whoo whoo" voices in the end. Good fun tune. I can't wait to hear the next 35!

Loved that you commented on all these. Have no DSL at home, so I have to submit from a friend's house. Will be posting new ones shortly.

getting high on this &mdash 04/26/07 - 02:36:38 AM
it's a really pleasant tune. I like the washing sounds - a bit too short for me, though, and I too think the voices at the end are really cool.

Better too short than too long....................I think?
Don't want to lose anyone's attention.

Wonderful intro man ... the keys and the vox are really smooth. i love the verse progression but the chorus iworks really well - it's not in your face, but creeps up on you. You've sung this quite 'aggressively', I probably would've laid it back a bit (but then i like crooning).

The ending funny, but i think the song could be developed with a more regular structure - I really missed not hearing the 'walk on water' part again.

What color do you want? &mdash 01/23/08 - 03:07:54 AM
Yellow seems to work and it seems to brighten up the place.

More of the 80's I think &mdash 04/19/08 - 12:37:22 PM
Vic hears the 60''s in this song, but to me it reminds me of the 80's, especially the opening. It took me back to the days of The Bronski Beat.

What ever era you want to place it in. It's really good!

Funny you should hit this moments before I posted the old demo for it.

Love when the oldies get hit.

I was pointed in this direction from the one you posted today. They're both great. This one is a solid effort all around. I'm very impressed with how this came together!

With a lot folks bailing out of here lately, it's good to see some familiar faces still around.

Thanks buddy

Very trippy &mdash 07/06/08 - 06:27:38 AM
I came to this after listening to the piano test version (which I enjoyed for its stripped-down charm btw). This has certainly moved on heaps - very infectious song but I agree with those that say it ended too soon, maybe you could extend the ending into a trippy instrumental and then repeat a verse/chorus to fade?

That aside, I liked it a lot, loadsa fun!

Thanks Komrade &mdash 07/06/08 - 01:52:02 PM
I guess that means it's good if you give it that kind of feedback.

Thanks, and I agree.

Excellent stuff &mdash 07/10/08 - 09:35:59 PM
I came here before even listening to the older demo you posted. I'll go back and check it out after this, which is very cool, by the way. How do great songs like this get passed over? Love the progression on this, and the vocal is excellent, with terrific harmonies and backing vocals. Nice guitar going on there, too. Then, of course, there's the wild ending! Love it! Very cool, my friend. Glad you led me back here! Kudos. Peace.

hey &mdash 07/11/08 - 07:25:40 AM
It got passed over, like my others, because I posted it too early, before I got better know. I posted a forum titled Regrets, where I address this problem.

Anyway thanks a lot for your support.
