You're right.... &mdash 03/28/07 - 10:03:05 PM
it sounded very skeletal at a lower volume. It's very gentle; and the fade-in to Brooklyn traffic ambience with bass has a back-in-the-day romance. Very nice.

Glad you dropped by and commented &mdash 03/29/07 - 08:44:24 AM
guess I could have posted at lower volume. I like it at 1/2 on my iBook with headphones.

You're full of surprises, aren't you?

I have to explore more of your noise collection so that I can begin to try to figure you out. I know you're a Residents fan, sbut that's about it.

Cool track. I downloaded it.

There's a book of photography by &mdash 03/29/07 - 08:51:24 AM
William Eggleston called "The Democratic Forrest". I love the work, but especially the title. Add that to Brian Eno, The Residents, Steve Reich, Aphex Twin, Arvo Part, Tery Riley, My Bloody Valentine, Pere Ubu, etc. and I'm pretty predictable. Thanks for your interest.

Clunk &mdash 03/29/07 - 09:20:18 AM
The only thing predictable about your stuff is it's unpredictability. Great list of influences.

Our fellow MacJammer cjdaley recently saw Pere Ubu in Paris. That had to be a great show.

Keep it up Bud.

Thanks for revealing the recipe for Bud Soup.

I would say that this is... &mdash 03/29/07 - 07:52:59 PM
..."unusual". But, well...that has negative connotations. This is anything but negative. And I love "unusual" things.

Stockhausen could easily be on your list of influences, too...

Awesome, bud. I loved this.

Sometimes the usual gets played and &mdash 03/29/07 - 11:11:24 PM
it's nice to break out of the song form every once and a while. That's one of the benefits of these machines we all work with - they're not musical instruments. Glad you took a minute to comment. I figured this was a fan killer for sure.

get on the bud train &mdash 03/29/07 - 08:28:59 PM
we have lost radio contact with earth and how that train got up there i'll never know. head cleaner yeah, i need it. could of made a cool background to the original alien movie.

if it's alright by you, i would like to steal a snipe to tag on a song i did a while ago, doubt if it will ever be reposted but it will sound cool in my car.

Hey Vic - thanks for dropping in &mdash 03/29/07 - 11:15:15 PM
Sure - you can do whatever you want with this. I f you play it really loud you can pretend you're getting an MRI - or an alien brain scan. I actually thought about the railroad crossing scene in Close Encounters when I heard that clip for some reason.

Perfect for the MRI chamber, been in there.....

the last time I had an MRI I fell asleep in it.

Things on fire... &mdash 03/30/07 - 05:32:28 PM
Just absolutely fascinating. I'm always amazed when someone manages to take sound and layer it in a way that just grabs my attention without playing much in the way of notes. This is like alien chatter, things on fire, reversed nightmares, but not in a frightening way.

It takes a whole bucketload of skill to pull something like this off, bud. I'm not surprised given your abilities, but it's still something to give you props over.

sound sculpture &mdash 03/31/07 - 07:15:36 AM
love it - the begginning makes me think of when the door opens in close encounters of the 3rd kind.Like a lot of human elements transformed into static energy and beamed into space. Its doing wonders for my hangover too !

You're right about the Close Encounters &mdash 03/31/07 - 10:02:58 AM
thing - I hear it too. Hope you had fun before the hangover. Thanks for stopping by.

Holy Crap. &mdash 03/31/07 - 06:21:15 PM
How'd you do this!? This is great, in it's zzz whoosh clunk fashion.
It's like getting run over by a thirty-ton ball of jello in the middle of rush hour---it's delicious!

Hidey Greg - &mdash 03/31/07 - 07:11:35 PM
Basically I just built part one out of sound effect loops - the I bounced it to and from iTunes and took the resulting track and glabbed little bits to use as samples that I looped and messed with so it all sounds related but evolving/devolving. A few extra clunks and wizzes for spice and some country road at night and your home.
Thanks for asking.

Hey Bill &mdash 04/07/07 - 07:39:24 PM
You're probably thinking of the Conet Project on shortwave number stations - here's a link. Can't wait to hear your next vocal piece.

i am slowly &mdash 04/26/07 - 05:13:30 PM
working my way through your back catalog. this is really great. disturbing in the way that i like to be pushed by sound. i could see this in Kubrick's THX-1138 really easily.

Thanks for digging deeper &mdash 04/26/07 - 10:41:25 PM
and for the welcome disturbance. I'll have to go back and hear what the score for THX sounds like - it's been a long time since I saw it. If you haven't seen it lately - check out Friedkin's "The Sorcerer" remake of Wages of Fear with the Tangerine Dream soundtrack.
